Student Engagement & Wellbeing News
Student engagement update
The students of MPWPS have been engaging in a wide variety of engagement opportunities this term, including Tournament of the Minds, VHAP Writing workshop and the Australian Maths Competition. This fortnight, students have developed some reflections on their learning to share with the community.
Victorian High Ability Program Writing workshop
On the 23rd August, Lily Holiday, Layla and Leo went to Niddrie Primary School for a writing convention and workshop. We had the privilege to work with children’s author Gus Gordon. He talked us through the process of writing and illustrating his amazing picture story books and explained his journey. Gus taught us strategies he uses in preparation for illustrating, such as collecting the right materials. At the workshop, he walked us through the writing process and we helped Gus plan a story in a unique way. We definitely benefited from this experience, and on top of this, had lots of fun. We learnt a lot from Gus and hope that in the future we have more opportunities like this.
