REMINDER: School Closure Day - Thursday 24th October

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term 4.

After a week back, our students have settled back nicely into the routines of school after what I hope was a restful time over the school holiday break.

Carpark Safety

A reminder about the importance of safe practices within our parish and school carparking and pedestrian areas: Please remember the following and report any instances of unsafe practices to the school office.

  • Gate 2 Entry  during school hours is for disabled parking, staff parking and deliveries only
  • Gate 4 Entry is for access to the carpark and kiss and drop\pick up section
  • Gate 1 Entry is for parishioners visiting for parish activities.  No school families should use entry during school hours.
  • All vehicle movement in within the school and parish site must at a walking pace or slower.
  • Obey all public parking and road traffic rules when coming and going from the school site.

As a community we all have a responsibility to keep students, families and visitors to our school safe with driving and pedestrian behaviour. Thank you

St Simon's School Production: "It's a Jungle Out There!"

As we return, the excitement and anticipation of our 2024 school production, "Its Jungle Out There, has taken over students and staff. Please click here for the latest parent communication about our production. We also ask that you attend to the Operoo permission form for the whole school dress rehearsal on Tuesday 22nd October by Friday 18th October.

Finally a reminder that it's an expectation that students attend both night of the school production. We understand that two nights in a row of late nights may be challenging for some students so we are not expecting students to arrive on time on Wednesday morning for school if they need a bit of sleep in.  Thursday's school closure day will also provide some relief for students from the two nights of production.

If your child has an engagement or activity they must attend on the nights of the production please contact the office via email, office@ssrowville.catholic.edu.au and include your child's classroom teacher email also. Please see Parent Communication #1 for more details about event clashes with some of our feeder Secondary schools and their parent information nights.

CALL for ASSISTANCE - SCHOOL PRODUCTION NIGHTS

We require six volunteers for each night to assist with being a car parking attendant.  You would need to be at the venue around 6:30 pm and will receive simple training on what to do. You will have enough time to finish the job and then attend the show for a 7:15pm start.  PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE 9755 4222 if you can assist. THANK YOU IN ANTICIPATION.

If you are able to assist with Car Park Attending and require supervision of your child/ren this will be available.

First Communion Year Four Students

On Sunday 6th and 13th October, Year Four students and their families gathered at St Simon's Church to celebrate Mass in which the students received Holy Communion for the first time. For our students, this is a significant milestone in their catholic faith journey. On behalf of the school community, we congratulate and celebrate our Year Fours and continue to pray for them as they grow closer to Jesus' presence in their lives.

Thank you to the our Year Four teachers, Melissa den Elzen, Katie Edgar, Philly Tarlinton and Michael Fitzsimmons, and Religous Education Leader, Hedy Carvalho for their work in planning and supporting the students at this time.
