Good morning Families,

The Mercy Spirit Award is presented each year to two students who respect and follow our school expectations, and display our school values of integrity, resilience, respect, relationships and kindness; students who help to make our school a better place by living the HR Way.  The receipents are determined through nominations from students and staff.

I acknowledge the many students who recognise the Mercy values in one another. They don't just just see the gifts of friends or siblings, but the qualities of students in different classes and year levels; students who are light to those around us.

The two recipients of the award have been acknowledged as students who follow school expectations, work hard, show Mercy hospitality and welcome, and care, respect and consideration for their teachers and peers.

Holy Rosary Day

The day began with a liturgy, featuring a reenactment of our beginnings when HR first opened as a church school in 1916. Following this, students worked in P-6 mixed activity groups with teachers to learn about life and school in 1916. Some of these groups included kite making, marbles, hopscotch, rote learning, scone making and copperplate handwriting.

It was a fantastic day of connection; realtionships across year levels were enhanced, and older students did a wonderful job guiding and supporting the younger ones.

A big thank you to parents for supporting the children with their historical costumes and picnic lunches, as well as to all the families who joined us at our Parish Mass yesterday to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.

Finally, as a lasting treat from our 110-year celebrations, student requests mean our new turf outside the hall will soon feature a hopscotch grid for everyone to enjoy!

Building Update

Our works are progressing according to the expected timeframe although there was a week's delay with the area in front of the hall due to the rain deluge over the final weekend of the holidays. At this stage, the builders expect to be finished with works at the front of the school by the end of Cup Week. They will then work from Hampden Rd. The turf that needs to be replaced will be done over the Christmas holidays and will comprise of line markings for down ball, soccer, hopscotch and a basketball and netball key. I thank the team from Vision Built who have been exceptional to deal with and whose communication is outstanding. There has, of course, been inconvenience and noise but this will be a fair exchange knowng our buildings are secure when it rains.

Leaving HR?

We kindly ask families to let us know if your child will not be returning to HR next year. Having this information helps us with class planning, staffing, and welcoming new families into our community. Please notify the school office as soon as possible.

I wish you a wonderful week,
