Secondary 11/12
Term 1
Secondary 11/12 students have had a positive start to 2026, it has started off particularly busy enrolling in VET course and beginning Thursday Work Programs including attending Bunnings, Wallara and Industry Exploration. Our two school based apprenticeships have commenced with students completing theory and practical days two days a week.
This term, the Year 11 students have been preparing for City Experience as part of their Personal Development Skills Understanding Self and Developing Self unit. The focus was to explore Melbourne Landmarks identifying places they would like to attend during their city experience later in the term.
Students explored using Google maps, PTV app and planned out trips to and from the city. Students had their first go at planning an event by organising a trip to Binnak Park for a BBQ developing their problem-solving skills.
They took a deep dive into their own history identifying where their family came from and how some people migrated to Australia.
Students were well prepared when we had to shift to a city experience and were excited to do the activities they voted for.
The highlights over the two days included a private screening at Hoyts Docklands and heading to South Bank to jump on a Melbourne River Cruise.
Next term students will use their knowledge from their city experience and will be exploring social issues within the community.

This term, the Year 12 students have been visiting Post School Services as part of their Personal Development unit Community Participation and Awareness. The focus was to explore some of the local services that deliver vocational programs, supported employment opportunities, life skill development and social and recreational activities. The students had the opportunity to tour the sites across 4 weeks, speak to the staff and participants (including previous Concord School students) and reflect on the programs in reference to their own personal goals and hopes for the future. The students used this information to guide them at the Concord School Careers Expo that was held in the school gym. There was a fantastic turn out by students with their families.
Students have begun 1:1 Transition meetings this week to discuss their future goals once they graduate Concord School.
