The Importance of Regular School Attendance

At Hackham East Primary School, we believe every day and every minute at school matters for your child's learning, wellbeing, and social development. Regular attendance helps children establish routines, develop friendships, and engage fully with their learning. Missing even a single day each fortnight adds up, leading to gaps in understanding and making it harder for children to stay connected to their peers and teachers.

Why Attendance Matters:

  • Students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically and feel a sense of belonging.
  • Frequent absences can impact progress, confidence, and social relationships.
  • Establishing positive attendance habits early sets children up for future success.

How Parents Can Support Good Attendance:

  • Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine to help your child arrive at school on time.
  • Help your child prepare school bags, uniforms, and lunches the night before.
  • Schedule family appointments and holidays outside of school hours whenever possible.
  • Talk positively about school and encourage your child to share their experiences.
  • Show an interest in school activities and celebrate achievements, both big and small.
  • If your child is reluctant or upset about coming to school, listen to their concerns and reassure them.

If your family is facing challenges with attendance, please remember you are not alone. Reach out to us at the school for support, advice, or to discuss how we can work together to help your child attend and thrive.

Together, we can help every student develop a love for learning and reach their full potential.
