Events coming up this month ... 

We have the first sitting of the  Foundation Exams coming up on Sunday 23 March.

Exam times commencing from 2:30pm will be posted on the notice board at the reception notice board  from Tuesday, 11 March.  The list of candidates with exam times will also be shared with the parents of the candidates. 

Our first Forte Lounge this year is just round the corner!

Date & Time: Sunday, 30 March, 3:30PM

Venue: Forte School of Music Mt Waverley (Main classroom) 

The Forte Lounge event at the end of this month is our first for the year. This event is a great opportunity for our students from Creative Keys 1 upwards  to come "on stage" to perform and showcase what they have been working on since the start of the year. As part of our effort to foster and explore more creativity in music learning at Forte, we welcome  students to come forward to perform their own little improvised versions or arrangements or compositions.  Remember to come out with a title to your work!

I would like to share the quote below from the late Forrest Kinney, a highly regarded music educator, pianist and performer based in the USA who taught music over 4 decades.  

He said "Music is not just a skill to perform,... but also an art to create." 

Forrest was known somewhat as an improvisation expert as his goal in life was to help others become creative as he believed that musicianship skills ought to encompass the Four Arts of Music; improvising, arranging , composing and interpreting.  

At Forte, we will continue to work towards empowering our students to become more creative and to find the joy in making up something of their own.
