PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Wow, Term 3 is almost complete, with just one week to go! The weather is starting to warm up, the days are getting longer and it finally feels like spring has arrived. It has been another busy and productive term at Echuca East, and we still have plenty happening before we head into the holidays.

SunSmart – Hats Are Back!

With the arrival of spring and warmer weather, our SunSmart expectations are once again in place from 1 September. Students are required to wear their school hat whenever they are outside, including during recess, lunchtime and outdoor learning activities.

Please take a moment to check that your child has their hat at school and, importantly, that it is clearly labelled with their name. With so many identical hats around the school, clear labelling makes it much easier for misplaced hats to find their way back to their owners.

If you need to purchase a new hat, they are available from Hip Pocket or the school office for $20.

Staffing Changes

We have a couple of staffing changes for the first half of Term 4.

Josh Molluso will be taking some well-deserved Long Service Leave for the first five weeks of the term. Matt Saunders will be stepping into Josh’s role for the first three weeks, with Fleur Gilmour taking over for the last 2 weeks. Our very valued CRT, Margie Hearn, will be stepping in to cover Matt and Fleur’s classes during this time.

We wish Josh a wonderful and relaxing break and look forward to welcoming him back later in the term!

AFL Footy Day

We have an exciting final day of Term 3 planned for Friday 18 September, with Mr Holmfield’s big Footy Extravaganza!

Friday will also be a Footy Colours Day, so all Easties are invited to come dressed in their favourite team colours and show their footy spirit!

The day will be packed with footy skill clinics, a goal-kicking competition and plenty of fun activities, before we finish the day with the much-anticipated staff versus student footy match. We’ll then wrap up the day with team theme songs and plenty of school spirit!

With plenty of colour, activity and Eastie spirit, it promises to be a fun and energetic way to finish another busy term. We can’t wait to see everyone getting involved, supporting their teams and enjoying the day together!

Early Finish – Friday 18 September

A reminder to all families that school will finish at 1:25pm on Friday 18 September.

Please ensure arrangements are in place for your child to be collected at the earlier finishing time. Just a reminder that NSW buses (Dysons) will not be collecting students at the early dismissal times, so alternative arrangements will need to be made on this day.

Wishing everyone a safe and restful holiday break. We hope you enjoy some well-deserved time together and look forward to welcoming everyone back to Echuca East on Monday 5 October.

 A Very Proud Moment for Minkarli!

A huge congratulations to Minkarli, who had the incredible opportunity to showcase her culture, strength and talent through cultural dancing on the world stage at today’s big NFL match at the MCG in Melbourne! 

What an amazing achievement and such a special experience for Minkarli to share her culture and traditions with such a large audience.
