From the Principal

8 February, 2024

What an exceptional week it's been over at POPS! It is a delight witnessing the school buzzing with the cheerful chatter of students and staff alike. Our students have settled into their new routines and are very enthusiastic about learning. Thank you to our dedicated staff for their planning and execution of high-quality teaching and learning at POPS.

Presentation Assembly

Our Presentation Assembly is scheduled for Monday, February 12, kicking off at 9:10 am in the gymnasium. This special occasion will introduce the Foundation students to our school community, with their year five buddies standing proudly by their side. Additionally, Nicole Werner MP, the Member of Warrandyte in the Victorian Legislative Assembly, will present Leadership Badges to our Year Six students.

Student Wellbeing

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

We're thrilled to announce that POPS is now part of the SWPBS initiative, a significant step in creating a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment.

We're excited about this journey and look forward to sharing more updates as we develop a behaviour framework that outlines positive behaviour expectations for our students.

Please visit the Student Wellbeing Page to read about Cybersafety and what all students are discussing in the classroom.

Parents' Association

We conducted the first PA meeting for 2024 on Tuesday night. The team discussed and planned activities for the year.

Various year levels will organise events, beginning with Pancake Day, coordinated by the year six parents. Pancake Day has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 20, to accommodate the Year Six parents attending the Presentation Assembly on Monday, February 12.

I would like to acknowledge the following parents for being elected to the following PA positions: President: Mrs Jordan, Vice President; Mrs Di Gennaro; Treasurer: Mrs van Prooyen; Minute Secretary: Mrs Ross; Fundraising Coordinator: Mrs Berardini; Class Rep Coordinators: Mrs Campbell and Mrs Heard and Community Engagement/School Council Member: Mrs Edgcumbe.

For more information about upcoming PA events, please visit the Parents' Association Page.

Annual Privacy Reminder

Our school collects, uses, discloses and stores student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy

We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Classroom safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Google Classroom, please contact the school.

POPS Garden Volunteers

We urgently need a few adults to help with the general maintenance of the garden beds and planting. If you're interested, please get in touch with Ms Garrity or Ms Owen for more information. Those interested will coordinate with the 3/4 teachers regarding specific gardening tasks to focus on with their classes each week.

Parent Helpers @ POPS

As part of POPS' commitment to child safety, we require all adults to possess a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC). Only adults with a valid WWCC recorded will be included in the parent helper rosters by staff. Go to WWCC website to apply.

Please get in touch with us via email or the school phone (9876 1249) if you would like to discuss anything about the school. bronwyn.garrity@education.vic.gov.au
