Dear students, families and carers,

This will be the last newsletter of the 2023 school year. To all of our parents, carers and kin, I want to say thank you for your ongoing support of our school. Naranga truly values building positive relationships with all members of the school community because we know that is the best way to get the most positive outcomes for our students.

When faced with difficult situations, the solutions usually are found when home and school can work together with honesty and trust. We will continue to find new ways for our families to get involved in school so that they have a better understanding of the work that happens here. But also so that our community can feel like they can add value to the experience of the students.

As always, it was an incredibly busy year. Some of the highlights that stand out for me include:

>completing our School Review in term 1

>completing our 50th Disability Inclusion Profile

>moving forward with our major building project

>continuing to enhance our student wellbeing practices

>continuing to build our explicit instruction practices to promote learning growth

This morning we held our end of term awards Assembly. We recognised our students who had 100% attendance in term 4. We celebrated our achievers of the term from every homeroom and specialist. We celebrated our final Aussie of the Month for the year. We presented our wellbeing awards and we presented four outstanding students with our ACE awards. It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents and carers at the Assembly this morning. Our next Assembly will be on Wednesday 31 January at 9am. See you there!

With the end of the year approaching fast, it is the time to say thank you and goodbye to some members of our Naranga School staff team. I want to say thank you to Genevieve Arter-Luen and Fiona O'Connor for their support to our students as Education Support Staff this year. I thank Simone Gray for her work as a homeroom teacher these past two years. After 12 years of service to our students, Kyria Morgan is moving on the to Alfred Child Youth Mental Health Service- I thank Kyria for all of the contributions she has made in her role as speech pathologist at the school. Peter Meehan is retiring after 15 years of service to the school- I thank him for his work as a teacher in a multitude of different subject areas. And finally, after 18 years, Peter Scott is also leaving us for retirement. I thank Peter for his work as a teacher, Wellbeing Leader and most recently as our woodwork teacher. On behalf of the whole school community, we thank all of y for your service and wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

On behalf of all the staff at Naranga School, I wish you a safe and happy holiday season. We are looking forward to another successful year of working in partnership for all of the students who attend Naranga.
