News from the Deputy Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome back to a brand new school year or welcome to our new families!  I hope that you have had a wonderful time over the Christmas break and managed to get away and spend some time away with friends and loved ones.

Each year the time seems to fly and I cannot believe that we are back and already one week into term one.

Already we have had an amazing week with students arriving onsite for beginning of the year assessments and of course the beginning of the year for the Foundation students.

It has been wonderful to hear of the adventures and the special time spent at home during the break by our students.

For those who do not know me, I am the Deputy Principal and also the Learning Diversity Leader for St Joseph's.  My role also includes being in the classroom  two days a week, where I support Mrs Beveridge and Ms Bourke in their leadership roles by taking their classes.

My role is one that I love. I have the opportunity to work with all children in the school and support families and staff with the needs of their students.  My role also includes working closely with other professionals and families and their children with neurodiverse needs.

Every term, we meet with families to set goals for their children who meet the criteria for funding.  These meetings are in the form of a Learning Support Group Meeting or PSG.  This process is vital in forming goals and adjustments for learning to meet the needs of the students in our school.

Often, in the newsletter, there will be information about neurodiveristy and links to professional networks, etc, to assist parents with the best information and educational needs for their children.  Please take time to read through this information or if you would like further information, please do not hesitate to email me at kvranken@sjyarrajunction.catholic.edu.au.

I look forward to meeting many of our new families and of course continuing the relationship with our current families.

If you need to have a chat or would like to discuss the needs of your child/ren please do not hesitate to contact me or to drop in at my office on Wednesday/Thursday or Friday.

Kind Regards,

Katie Vranken
