PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Good afternoon everyone,
I can not believe we have under 5 weeks left this school year. Definitely a busy few weeks planned and ask that all families ensure they keep up to date with Compass alerts and calendars.
Tomorrow I head to Melbourne with Grade 5 students for camp. I am very much looking forward to this, with opportunities to go to the MCG, ArtVo, ACMI, MSAC, Sky Deck and Melbourne Aquarium. We are also lucky enough with our timing that we will see the Myer Windows on Thursday night.
Swimming commences in two weeks, and can I ask all families to ensure they have completed the swimming survey, that will allow Amy Van Braam to allocate students to the right levels.
We also have our School Concert, which will be an exciting event.
We hosted 12 staff from Apollo Bay Prep to 12 College last Friday who observed Literacy and Numeracy classes across the school. We were recommended by the Department of Education as a ‘high performing school with high quality practice.’ This was great recognition for our staff.
We have now confirmed staffing for the 2026 school year and will be farewelling a few staff members and welcoming new staff to our team.
Emily Angliss, Kate Rhind, Erin Howell and Brodie Saunal are leaving us at the conclusion of the school year. Nikki Robertson will be going on Family Leave from January. Jaime Blackney has graduated and will commence her first-year teaching at a local primary school in Geelong.
We welcome Emma McLaren, Claire Owen and Kate Badenhope to the teaching team, along with Logan Hockley who has worked here in an Education Support Staff role for the past 3 years, into a teaching role. Karen will be teaching French next year in a full-time role. We also welcome Lachie McLean, Tyler Barker and Casey Angus to Education Support Staff roles. We look forward to having these staff on board in 2026 and they will be visiting over the next few weeks.
Thank you to Sarah Jeffreys for her coordination of the upgrade to the basketball and netball courts. We are looking forward to watching this unfold over the coming weeks and having some time to use these prior to the school holidays.
Again, congratulations to Liam for becoming the National Under 12 Team Golf Champion. This is a great achievement and one to be very proud of.
Have a great week all.
Kind regards,
Meg
