Thank you for the music

After five incredible years at Sandringham College, we say goodbye to our Head of Music, Luke Devenish. Luke has been a passionate advocate for music and the performing arts, building a thriving instrumental and ensemble program that has left a lasting mark on our school community.

His commitment to nurturing student talent, fostering creativity, and championing the importance of music education has made a significant impact on students, staff, and families alike. Luke’s leadership and vision have inspired countless performances, productions, and musical moments that will be cherished for years to come.

While we will deeply miss Luke’s presence and expertise, we wish him all the best as he embarks on new adventures. We know his talent and passion will continue to shine wherever he goes, and we remain grateful for all that he has contributed to Sandringham College.

Thank you, Luke, for your dedication and hard work, and good luck on your next chapter!

VCE Music

A huge congratulations to our VCE Music Unit 1/2 students for their incredible performances at the end of Unit 2! The talent and hard work showcased on stage was truly impressive, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved.

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing instrumental staff for their dedication and guidance throughout the semester, helping students prepare and refine their performances. Your support makes all the difference.

A big shoutout as well to our tech crew, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. Your work often goes unnoticed, but it’s absolutely essential to the success of these performances.

VCE Theatre Studies

The Unit 4 Theatre Studies students performed to a warm audience of family and friends at the Holloway Theatre on Tuesday 8th October in preparation for their performance examination. A panel of assessors were assembled for the evening, consisting of guest VCAA assessor Brendan Carroll, Drama teacher Amy Porter and alumni Top Class Design participant) Jazmin Golding. We are very grateful for their time and expertise to assist our students. Students were able to present their acting and directing, or design interpretation of their chosen monologue, followed by their interpretation statement where they justified their choices. The feedback from the audience and the panel was invaluable, and students worked hard to incorporate this into their final pieces,  refining their choices up to the very end. Students presented their work at Kingston City Hall on Wednesday 16th October. They are to be commended for their efforts and enthusiasm. Congratulations on completing the Performance Examination, class of 2024. We wish you well for the rapidly approaching VCE Theatre Studies Written exam!

Dance Showcase Approaching Fast

As our End of Year Dance Showcase approaches, our dancers are diligently refining their performance pieces. With less than four weeks to go, anticipation is building!

This year’s theme is "Remastered," featuring covers and remastered versions of classic songs. Our showcase will highlight a variety of dance styles, including Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Street, and Tap.

This semester, students had the opportunity to audition pieces for inclusion in the showcase. We received a large number of applications, and we commend all the students who submitted their work. Selecting only a few pieces to feature was a challenging task. Expect to see some outstanding solos, along with a few original student-created works.

Tickets are selling quickly for our two public performances, so be sure to secure yours soon! A reminder that the Sunday performance is scheduled for 4 PM.

We look forward to seeing you there!

VET Dance Performance Evening

Congratulations to our VET VCE dancers on their impressive performances at the VET performance evening!

Each student showcased their two VET solos for family and friends as preparation for their performance exam.

The students have dedicated countless hours to rehearsing and refining these pieces throughout the year. The solos account for 50% of the study score for the subject and are assessed externally by the VCAA.

Having now completed their exams, our students have successfully finished VET VCE 3/4. A heartfelt congratulations to everyone on a fantastic year in VET Dance.
