General Achievement Test

General Achievement Test (GAT) completed smoothly!

Tuesday 16th was the day of the annual GAT. There is a lot of work that goes on in the background to make sure this VCAA assessment runs smoothly. This effort is replicated across Victoria for every student enrolled in a Unit 3/4 study, which would add up to many hours of work.

The Chief Exam Supervisor, Ange Reid, had a total of 5 supervisors to run the 2 test sessions. Colleen Adams, Senior School Coordinator, helped coordinate the running of the day with Ange. She also spent a lot of time leading up to the GAT, working with the students to ensure they were aware of what to expect.

This day disrupts the running of the whole school, but staff and students managed the room changes, the no-go zones and the lack of bells with ease. I’d like to thank everyone for the part they played in making what could be a stressful day for many, run as smoothly as possible.

Mid Year Awards Ceremony

Make sure you have saved the last Friday of term in your diary for our Mid Year Awards Ceremony, being held from 11.45-12.50. Having our families present is so important to help celebrate our students achievements. Equally, it is just as important for students to celebrate success with their peers, and create a supportive learning community together.

End of Semester Reports

Next Friday is the last day of Term 2, with the students finishing school at 2.30pm, allowing the staff a bit of extra time to pack down for the holidays.

Our Semester Reports will be released to families that afternoon. Please remember, there will be no written comments in this cycle, but there will still be results based on the curriculum and learning tasks, and attendance data. If you want to talk to your child’s teacher about their progress, please make sure you email them and they will respond when they return to work. While Semester 2 often brings changes in subjects that are being studied, the results from Semester 1 are still highly valuable for showing student progress so far this year.
