A Message from the Deputy Principal

Welcome back to Term 3!
This term promises to be a busy and engaging one. Learning across the school will focus on the concepts of Sustainability and Causation, with many classes using these big ideas as a springboard for developing their understanding of Science. Teachers are currently finalising their Term 3 Overviews, which will be shared with families early next week.
Please read on for an overview of some of the exciting events and learning opportunities we are looking forward to this term. Be sure to keep an eye on the newsletter and Audiri for further details and updates.
Term 3 Assemblies
School assemblies provide a wonderful opportunity for students to share their learning, develop confidence speaking in front of an audience, and celebrate their achievements. Classes take great pride in preparing engaging and entertaining presentations for our school community.
-Week 2, Thursday 23rd July, 2.30pm: JLA 3 will be presenting an assembly that focuses on NAIDOC Week, celebrating First Nations' cultureand achievements.
-Week 4, Friday 7th August, 2.30pm: Assembly will focus on Science and Sustainability and will be presented by various students from each level.
-Week 6, Thursday 20th August, 9.10am: Italian Day Assembly and Parade, all students will be involved in this Assembly celebrating Italian language and culture.
-Week 8, Friday 4th September, 2.10pm: MLA 2 will be presenting a special assembly celebrating dads in advance of Father's Day. Following this assembly Dads will be invited into the classrooms for a special activity with their children.
SLA Health & Puberty Family Information Evenings
Commencing next week for Year 5, and in Week 3 for Year 6, these sessions support families engage with their child on sensitive areas of development in an age-appropriate manner. Information was shared with SLA parents yesterday via Audiri
100 Days of Prep
Our Preps will celebrate this momentous milestone on Wednesday 29th July. We look forward to welcoming many little 100-year-olds on this day! There will be a short parade and presentation at 9am in the Hall.
School Disco: Thursday 6th August
A fantastic yearly event run by our P&F, see today's Audiri message for booking details.
Italian Day: Thursday 20th August
This day will involve dressing up, a morning assembly and parade, a special performance for students and a delicious Italian lunch.
Book Week
Book Week will be celebrated in Week 8 at St Joseph the Worker with a parade taking place on the morning of Thursday 3rd September. We will also host an exciting guest speaker for students during the week.
St Joseph the Worker Art Show
Our biennial art show will open on Wednesday the 9th September from 4 - 6.30pm and again on Thursday 10th from 2-4pm. It will no doubt be a wonderful celebration of creativity, showcasing the impressive artistic talents of our students.
Term 3 Incursions and Excursions
All levels have plans in the works for either an incursion or an excursion this term that ties into their science or sustainability learning focus.
School Closure Days
We have two school closure days this term, on Tuesday 28 July and Thursday 27 August. During these days staff will work on reviewing and refining our Whole School Curriculum. MACSEYE will run on these days.
