Principal's Report

Can you believe we are already heading into Week 5? This term is certainly flying by!

As we move through winter, we have noticed there are quite a few coughs, colds and other bugs making their way around our school community. Staff are reminding students to regularly wash their hands and use hand sanitiser, and our cleaning team has increased their spot cleaning throughout the school to help minimise the spread of illness. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home until they are feeling well enough to return and remember to notify the school through uEducateUs. Thank you for helping us keep everyone healthy.

It has also been wonderful to see the warmer weather starting to arrive. The sunshine has certainly brought plenty of smiles, and our students are making the most of it by spending more time outdoors and enjoying active play together.

One of the highlights for me has been watching whole-school games of dodgeball and netball during recess and lunch. A huge congratulations to our Junior School Council leaders for organising and facilitating these opportunities. Seeing students of all ages playing together, encouraging one another and having fun is one of the many things I love about Inglewood Primary School.

This week also marked the final StIngleBridge netball team, where we joined together with Bridgewater and St Mary's. While it was sad knowing this was our last combined team, it was a truly special day that reflected what our communities are all about; working together, supporting one another and creating opportunities for our students. Thank you to everyone who has been involved over the years.

We were also privileged to host 27 principals from across our network this week. I couldn't be prouder of our students and staff. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with visitors commenting on how welcoming our school community is, the positive atmosphere throughout the school and the fantastic learning they observed. They were also blown away by the wonderful feast prepared and served by our Junior School Council. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success.

Today I attended the Principal Area Forum, where it was pleasing to hear that Victorian NAPLAN results continue to show many positive outcomes across the state. It was particularly exciting to reflect on our own school's results, especially the outstanding growth shown by our Year 3 to Year 5 students, with many students achieving growth in the exceeding proficiency level.

Speaking of data, our recent ATSOS (attitude to school opinion survey)  results were simply outstanding. The results show that our students feel connected to school, enjoy coming each day, have strong wellbeing supports, and feel confident that their teachers provide engaging and high-quality learning opportunities. These results are something our entire school community can be incredibly proud of and are a wonderful reflection of the caring and supportive environment we continue to build together.

It was also fantastic to see so many families attending Parent-Teacher Interviews. These conversations are such an important opportunity to celebrate student growth and discuss future learning goals. If you were unable to attend due to illness or other circumstances, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher to arrange another time.

As we begin planning for 2027, I kindly ask all families to return their 2027 Enrolment  Forms as soon as possible if you haven't already done so. Having an accurate picture of our student numbers is incredibly important as it allows us to begin planning staffing, class structures and resources to ensure we continue to provide the best possible learning environment for all students. Thank you to those families who have already returned their forms.

School Council also met this week, and I am excited to officially announce that our Years 3–6 Camp will be heading to Sovereign Hill next year. We know this will be an exciting learning experience for our students, and we look forward to sharing more information in the coming months.

School Council also discussed our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program. It was wonderful to acknowledge Sonia and thank her for the fantastic work she is doing. The program continues to grow, with strong attendance numbers and positive feedback from families. It is wonderful to see this valuable service continuing to thrive for our community.
