From the Acting Principal
Dear families,
What an amazing morning we had last Friday for our Celebration of Grandparents. It was wonderful to see so many happy and proud Papou, YiaYia, Nonno, Nonna, Gran, Nan, Nana, Grandma, Pa, Pop, Grandpa, Papa, Baje, Bajai, Dada, Dadi and Nani come along to see their Grandchildren in their classrooms and experience the warm St Mark's welcome that was offered.
Thankyou to all the staff for organsing the classroom activities and the baking and preparation of a delicious Morning tea. Well done to the students and teachers of LA9 and LA10 for leading such an entertaining and reflective assembly.

Please keep the students in Year 6 in your prayers as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday 21st August at 6:00pm. Last night the candidates, their Sponsors and families gathered online for the Faith Formation evening led by Maria Forde. Thankyou for our RE Leader Dorothy Mash and the 5/6 staff for supporting the students in preparation for this important Sacrament. All are welcome to attend.
Send your Holy Spirit upon them
to be your helper and Guide.
Give them the spirit of wisdom
and understanding,
the spirit of counsel
and fortitude,
the spirit of knowledge
and piety.
Fill them with the spirit
of wonder
and awe, fear of the Lord.

Italian Day - please see the note from Signorina Catalano on the Italian Day page of this newsletter about all the festivities that she has been preparing for what is usually a great day enjoyed by all. Next Thursday 6th August.
St Mark’s Family Disco - Our Family Disco will be held this term on Friday August 28th, 6-7.30pm in our Hall. This will be a fun filled night for all the family to come along and dance the night away. There will be music to suit everyone’s taste, no matter which era you grew up in! Please note, the Family Disco is a family event. All children will need to be accompanied by adult family members. To ensure this event is a great success, we require parental assistance to plan the event and run the night please.
Assemblies - Assemblies in Term 3 will be held at 2.45pm on Fridays. This week will be a general assembly where we will acknowledge the Term 2 Week 10 and Term 3 Week 1 Learners of the Week and Birthdays. All are welcome!
There will be occasions when Assemblies will be held in the morning....
The next occasion is the Father’s Day Assembly which will be held at 9.00am on Friday September 4th (details to be advised).
Dates to Remember - all the the Term Dates and School Closure days have been published on the Dates to Remember page since the start of the year. Add these to your diary! The events and special days for Term 3 have been added. These are added to and updated each fortnight.
Crossing Safety - St Mark's families are reminded again to use the School Crossings to cross Argyle and Lee Sts. Not only is this a safe practice, it also is a great example to the children to teach them vitally important road safety skills. Please do not cross the road in front of the staff carpark and school gate - this is very dangerous, walk the extra few metres to use the crossing. We welcome back our Crossing Supervisor, Eugenia this week.
