Halloween Reminder from Eco Club
We love Halloween at our house! We love seeing all the decorated houses and getting into the spooky spirit. We decorate our house with all sorts of scary things.
However, those fake, stretchy, fluffy spider webs can be harmful to wildlife, so we talked about it at Eco Club yesterday.
Birds can use the plastic fibres in their nests, adding more plastic to our environment. Birds and other small animals can also get tangled in them. And it’s not just birds, butterflies, bees and other insects can get trapped, too. These little creatures are important, and we need to look after them.
The good news is you don’t have to give up the Halloween fun! If you love fake spiderwebs, why not keep them inside, on your windows facing out? You can still make your house look wonderfully spooky without putting wildlife at risk.
We also talked about something important at Eco Club: if we see houses with fake spider webs outside, we don’t need to get cross with the people who put them up. I didn’t know about the problem until pretty recently, and I’m sure plenty of other people don’t know either.
