EMR Cross Country
Our students enjoyed a fantastic day at the EMR Cross Country Championships held at the Yarra Glen Racecourse recently, with ideal weather conditions providing the perfect setting for competition.
Congratulations to all students who represented our school in either the 3km or 5km events. Competing against some of the region’s best runners, event fields in the secondary competition ranged from 54 to as many as 117 competitors, making for a highly challenging day of racing.
Every runner demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school at this high level of competition.
Congratulations to Edwin Bentley who has qualified in the U16 5km event at the SSV State Championships early next term. Congratulations also to 13 boys teams that won the Team Bronze Medal!

End of term 2!
Term 2 has provided our students with a wide range of opportunities to become involved in interschool sport, and it has been fantastic to see so many students embrace these experiences.
Congratulations to all students who represented the school throughout the term. From the Boys Netball and Girls AFLW sport carnivals to Brentwood’s House Cross Country Trials and the various Year Level Round Robin competitions, students consistently demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment, and excellent sportsmanship.
These events not only allow students to develop their sporting skills but also provide valuable opportunities to build teamwork, resilience, and school pride. It was pleasing to see students challenge themselves, support their teammates, and represent the school with distinction.
Thank you to all students who took the opportunity to get involved this term. Term 2 is always a great term for interschool sport, offering multiple opportunities for participation, and we encourage students to continue taking advantage of these experiences in future events.
Who knows? Your sporting journey could begin with a school trial and see you progress through the School Sport Victoria pathway, representing the school at Monash Division, Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR), and even the SSV State Championships. Every opportunity is a chance to challenge yourself, develop your skills, and create lasting memories.
Two of the school’s standout sporting achievements were our two School Sport Victoria (SSV) State Championship-winning teams. The 15 Years 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay team and the Intermediate Girls Softball team both claimed State Championship titles, earning their place in school sporting history. These students now proudly wear their achievement embroidered on their PE polo as a lasting recognition of their outstanding success.
What’s on in term 3?
Student sign-ups for Term 3 interschool sports have taken place over the past few weeks for Year 7–10 students. Sports on offer include Basketball, Table Tennis and Hockey. If you missed the sign-up process and would still like to be considered for team trials, please see Miss Nash in the PE office as soon as possible at the beginning of next term.
Looking ahead, Interschool Athletics will be our final major interschool sporting carnival for the year and will be held on Friday 4 September. We encourage all students who qualified at our House Carnival in term 1 to get involved and represent the school in what is always a fantastic day of competition and school spirit.
Sport Uniform
Just a reminder that students should be wearing their Brentwood sports uniform to all school sporting events. Our sport uniform is blue and Navy track pants are the only colour that matches out uniform, not grey or black.
Parents, please label all uniform items – it can’t be returned to your child if there is no name on it! Thank you to the parents who support and enforce our sport uniform. I am proud of Brentwood and our uniform, and I hope the students are too.
