Principal Report

Dear Families,

 

Dana Street students have been shining brightly in all areas. A prime example was this morning's assembly, where we celebrated our Values Award Winners for this term, presented the piano students with their awards, heard from our Eco Warriors who are going to recycle and fundraise for a new flagpole, and even had a performance from our choir singing the Cauliflower Song. What a talented bunch of students we have here at Dana Street! 

 

Koorie Motion Lab

This week, two students represented Dana Street Primary School at the combined schools Koore Motion Lab. Hamish and Roro went along to the Ballarat Tech School on Tuesday and Wednesday to participate in activities grounded in culture and connection. 

 

Division Athletics

On Wednesday, a team of students represented Dana Street Primary School at the Division Athletics. Our students represented our school with pride and did an amazing job. Congratulations to Emma, Daisy, Rory, Lewis, Conall, Jasmine, Oscar, Greta, Mila, Archie, Ava and Teddy who competed throughout the day. 

 

Year 1/2 Authentic Action

Yesterday, we had some very excited tour guides in our school, touring other students and families through mini-Ballarat. Throughout this term, the 1/2 students learnt all about Ballarat and its history. I was lucky enough to have tour guide Lily, who told me many fascinating facts about our city, like ‘the Ballaarat Train Station was built 1862 and the clock wasn’t built until 100 years later as they were fighting over who would pay for it’. Thank you to all of the families who came along and enjoyed the tour. 

 

Emergency Drill - Lockdown from Playground

This week, we practised our Emergency Drill. We got to our classrooms and locked down within 5 minutes of the bell. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to learn about areas we need to improve.
