Chev Need to Knows

13 September 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust you are well as we enjoy a colder than usual Tulip Time weekend.

We thank the 80 parents who attended the presentation of the Best Use of Time Insights Report and College Response on Monday this week.  We now release to all families the detailed Insights Report, together with the accompanying 8 Appendices, and the College Response.  Please click here to access the full report.

If you have any questions after reading the report, the Action Research email address actionresearch@chevalier.nsw.edu.au remains open.

Wishing you an enjoyable weekend,

Self-regulation through Flipped Learning – A credential update

This week, students in Years 9 to 11 were invited to drop-in sessions in the Library during Breaks 1 and 2 (Monday to Friday) to seek assistance from Ms Gillespie and Ms Kirby to complete some or all of the credential.

Students were also advised, via Student Notices, that the next parent webinar is scheduled for 23 September. As such, this message is to remind parents and students of the process for qualifying to learn from home on ‘Flipped Mondays’:

  • Students in Years 7-9 must be onsite on all Flipped Mondays.
  • Students in Years 10-12 (2025) who wish to learn from home on Flipped Mondays must have successfully completed the credential.  It is important to note that completing all tasks does not mean that the credential has been attained.
  • The parent/carers of credentialled students in Years 10-12 (2025) must attend a compulsory webinar to unpack next steps. These 30-minute webinars are hosted on Zoom on evenings advertised in advance. The next parent webinar is scheduled for 23 September. Subsequent webinars will, as always, be published in the Need to Knows and Student Notices.
  • Following attendance at the webinar, a document will be forwarded to parents to digitally sign if they wish their Years 10-12 (2025) child to learn from home on Flipped Mondays.
  • Once this document is signed, a similar document is sent to students to digitally sign in acknowledgement of their commitment to regulate their own learning from home on Flipped Mondays.
  • The final step is a Canvas Course invitation to the student, whereby their attendance on Flipped Mondays but be registered by 9am.
