From the Principal

3 Way Conferences

Thank you to all families who attended and participated in our recent 3 Way Conferences. These conferences provide both families and school staff an opportunity to discuss your child's achievements to date and the next steps needed for your child to progess their learning.

We achieve the best results when there is a strong, unified partnership between both home and school so your involvement and support is fundamental to student success.

Progressive Reporting\Learning Tasks

We would like to remind families that information about your child's learning journey is continuously made available online through Compass through our Learning Tasks.

Rather than waiting for traditional semester report periods, our progressive reporting allows you to access real-time insights into your child's progress. This allows us and families to indentify any gaps in student learning and implement any necessary supports.

We encourage you to check Compass regularly , to discuss your child's learning tasks with them and to make contact with your child's homegroup teacher should you have any concerns regarding their progress.

2025 Parent Opinion Survey

The 2025 Parent Opinion Survey is now open. We strongly encourage all families to participate. Your feedback forms an essential part of our school data set and directly influences changes we make at our school.

Links and access codes to complete the survey have been sent via Compass and email. The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete and is available in a number of different languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

If you require assistance in another language, please contact the school as additaonl resources may be available to support you.

If you have any questions about completing the survey, have not received your link or require access to a device to complete the survey, please contact the school office.

Old Melbourne Goal Excursion

Our Year 5/6 students had a wonderful educational experience during their recent visit to the Old Melbourne Gaol. They enjoyed a tour of the historic facility and thoroughenjoyed participating in a re-enactment of Ned Kelly's trial. (I hear we may have some future actors in our midst!)

This excursion complemented their current literature studies on convict settlement in Australia. The feedback from students and accompanying staff was overwhelmingly positive.

Please take a moment to read more about their adventures and view photos from the event in this edition of the newsletter.

Book Week

Last week on Thursday, our school community came together to celebrate Book Week. The annual character parade was filled with wizards, adventurers, princesses, and superheroes—all representing characters from classic and more modern children's literature. It was also great to see some students and some staff show our value of

Co-operation by 'teaming up' to ensure all characters from their chosen text were featured.  You can see some of these amazing outfits in this edition of Jumbunna.

A special thank you to all the parents and families who supported their children in preparing such amazing and incredible costumes. Thanks also to Shona McCulloch for her organising the parade.

Book Week cretes an opportunity to celebrate literacy and inspire a lifelong love of reading and help to promote reading habits that will benefit our students throughout their lives.

Will you be leaving or starting at LEPS in 2026?

Planning is currently underway for our 2026 staffing profile and class structures. If your family will be moving and your child will no longer be attending Lalor East Primary School in 2026, please inform our office staff at your earliest convenience. (This does not include Year 6 students who will be transitioning to secondary school.)

Similarly, if you have young children due to start Prep next year or know families with prep-aged children, please encourage them to enrol as soon as possible as early enrolment greatly assists our planning process.

Interested families can contact the office to obtain copies of our enrolment forms or to arrange a personalised school tour.
