Sports Update

Netball Schools Cup
Last Friday the 13th June, we had 64 students travel to Inverell to participate in the Netball Schools Cup. We entered 4 teams in the Stage 2 Social Division and 4 teams in the Competitive Stage 3 Division.
Both students and staff had a fantastic day and we commend our students on their excellent sportsmanship and participation. We were lucky enough to have some of our past students help us umpiring and looking after some teams. Thank you to Mia Watson, Paige Floyd, Danyela Bailey and Olivia Wilkins for all your help on the day. The students learnt so much from these amazing young ladies and we really appreciate them taking the time to help us.
We also had some generous adults who took time off to help umpire and coach our teams. Thank you to Helen Smith, Kristen Bailey, Nicole Watson, Julie Watson, Melissa Key, Jane van der Waal, Jess Newberry and Narelle Pietsch. Your assistance lightened the load for all of us.
Congratulations to the Blue Stage 3 team consisting of Claire Bailey, Sophia Nugent, Macie Watson, Rosemary Wright, Jimmy Chard, Sam Barratt, Kash McPhillips, Josh Pietsch and Matt Pietsch. These students played some skilled netball and were undefeated all day. This team has now progressed to the Regional Finals which will be held on the 11th September.
NSW CPS Cross Country
Last Wednesday, four of our talented students travelled to Sydney to test themselves at the next level at the NSW CPS Cross Country event. These students have been training for months in preparation for this event. These runners achieved amazing results in which they should all be very proud of.
Congratulations to Cotton Gray who placed 8th, Charlotte Neville - 5th, Sophia Nugent - 9th and Clayton Cooper - 41st. These students ran mighty races. Charlotte Neville placed in the top 6 which means she will progress to the NSW PSSA Stage Championships early next term. Congratulations Charlotte and we wish you all the best.
Athletics Carnival
On Wednesday 2nd July, we will hold our annual Athletics Carnival at King George Oval. A Compass note has been sent out for parents to provide consent to attend this event. Thank you in advance to all the parents who have indicated they can help on the day. We are always grateful for the extra help whether it be timekeeping, measuring distances or helping in the canteen. Your help makes the day run smoothly.
We will have the P&F Canteen, the Lion’s Van and Floatin’ Around Coffee Van keeping us fed and watered throughout the day. Students can wear shirts in their house colours; Mackillop - yellow, Penola - red and Fitzroy - blue.
Polding Touch Football
We wish Maggie Doust, Rosemary Wright, Peyton McBain and Brooke Graham all the best at Polding Touch Football in Port Macquarie on Thursday 3rd July. These students will be playing in the Armidale Diocesan team alongside other girls in the diocese. Good luck girls, we are sure you will give it your best effort.
Toni Palmer Memorial Shield (Rugby League)
Next Wednesday the 25th June, League students in Years 3 to 6 will compete at the Toni Palmer Memorial Shield in Inverell. Our students will combine with students from other schools in the Diocese to have an enjoyable day playing Rugby League. Thank you to Miss McMeniman and Mrs Chard who will be coaching these students on the day.
