Principal's Report

We can almost hear the sounds of the Year 12 celebrations. This week is the final week of Year 12 classes and there is definitely a sense of excitement amongst the group, coupled with some nerves and anxiety, a healthy balance that is to be expected at this milestone moment in their lives. As the Year 12 VCE students head into their study and examination period we wish them well and trust they will do the very best they can. They are an extraordinary bunch of young adults and we look forward to honouring their time here at St Joseph's at their Celebration Day and Graduation Mass next week.

On Wednesday we hosted our second annual St Joe's on Show and what a talented bunch of students we have here at our College! I would like to congratulate all our staff and students for the enormous amount of work they put in behind the scenes to pull this event together and thank all the family, friends and guests that came along to support this fabulous showcase of our students.

On Thursday we celebrated St Joseph’s Inclusion Day which was initiated by our Year 12 students. This day highlighted inclusion in many forms. Lunchtime activities were facilitated and there was much fun and laughter. We want to be a community where all are welcomed, but more importantly, we want everyone to feel and experience that sense of welcome regardless of background, age, gender, orientation, neurodiversity or disability. It is hoped that this event will become an annual celebration on our calendar.

This term we have also welcomed a number of new staff to the College. We are fortunate to have them join us from various parts of the globe and with a plethora of educational experience. I trust that we welcome them into our St Joseph’s community with warmth and kindness.

We are excited to share our new promotional video with you! This video, created by radiant media, showcases a montage of the many wonderful features, facilities, programs, students and teachers that make up our St Joseph's College learning community.

Within this Newsletter you will also find information regarding the Kildare Ministries Conference next year. The information contains important details about our need to extend our Term 1 break in 2024, so I encourage you to read it.

Amongst all the exciting activity of Term 4, we are also mindful that this week marks the anniversary of the 2022 floods. As always, we remain supportive of the members of our community who are still challenged by last year’s events, whether that be financial or health and wellbeing challenges.
