Principal Connections

Welcome to our first newsletter for the year! It has been a wonderful start to 2026, and it has been so lovely to see our students settling in, connecting with new friends, and building relationships with staff across the school.

The energy around the school has been incredibly positive and calm, and it’s been a joy to see our community coming together as we begin our school.  I have loved being out the front in the mornings and afternoons, or in our drop off/pick up bus stop.  It's such a great way for us to start our day with a smile and wave from our new community!

One particularly special moment for our community was the Smoking Ceremony held last week. It was a meaningful and respectful way to begin our journey together and held deep significance for our school. Please see the page down below for some information and some beautiful pictures.  I will also share more photos next week.

Tiffany’s Learning Journey to India

Many families may already be aware but we are excited to share that Tiffany Bamford (Inclusion Assistant Principal) has been selected to take part in the Women Leading: In-country Engagement India 2026 program, run by the Department of Education in partnership with the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership.  As part of this experience, Tiffany is travelling to southern India, where she is visiting schools, learning alongside education leaders, and taking part in professional learning focused on wellbeing, culture, leadership, and global learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity that will bring new ideas, fresh perspectives, and valuable learning back to our school community.  When Tiffany returns, she will be sharing her learning with staff and our wider community as we continue to grow together as a connected and globally aware school.  While Tiffany is away, Anthony Richards is holding the fort as Acting Assistant Principal and I thank him for his work in this space.

Take a look at some of Tiffany’s photos below to see a glimpse of her trip so far.

As we continue to mark important milestones in our first year, we would again like to warmly invite families to attend the Minister’s Official Opening on Monday 16 February, just after 9:00am, held in our Marngrook (gym). We understand not everyone will be able to attend, but we would love to see any families who are able to join us for this special occasion.

Wellbeing and Connection Conversations

Our Wellbeing and Connection Conversations will be held on Wednesday 25 February. These parent / teacher times are a chance to chat with your child’s teacher about how your child has settled into school and how they are feeling and connecting.

Bookings are now open via School Interviews (similar to the family interviews held prior to school opening).

Community Calendar – Building Our School Community Together

At our school, we believe strong partnerships between families and staff are essential. When we come together, we create a sense of belonging, shared purpose, and connection that supports both student wellbeing and learning.

To support our community attending events and knowing what is happening, please find our Community Calendar attached.  This isoutlining key dates and events coming up across the school. This calendar will also be available on Compass for easy access throughout the year.

As we move through our first year together, staff have been identifying a small number of special community events that we will focus on. These moments are designed to bring families together, celebrate our students, and continue building a strong, connected school community.

We look forward to sharing these experiences with you and growing our community together.

Warm regards,
