We are excited to see these leaders take on their roles and support their peers across various Junior School activities. I also want to extend a sincere thank you to all students who put themselves forward for these positions. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone, and your willingness to contribute is commendable.
As we kick off Term 3, our co-curricular program will commence next week with a plethora of exciting opportunities for our students. Many Year 8 students (and some Year 7s) have already started their first week as St. Patrick’s College rowers! I popped into the shed on Wednesday afternoon and it was refreshing to see lots of Junior School students learning about the sport and admiring the boatshed facility.Furthermore, the Junior Basketball program is bursting at the seams. I cant wait to watch our Year 7 & 8 Basketball teams start competing next week. Additionally, Year 7/8 Soccer, Fishing Club and Table Tennis are other great sports that are on offer for our students to experience. It's warming to witness so many of our Junior Schoolers embracing these opportunities to represent our College and engage in activities they are passionate about.
The BAS Road Relay was held on Thursday afternoon. From all accounts, it was a successful day for the St Patrick’s team. Particular congratulations to the students from the Junior School who were successful in winning both the A and B divisions in their sections:
Junior A: Archie Holloway, Ollie Ryan, Ollie Burt and Tom Goodson
Junior B: Alfie Carter, Jack Ward, Harrington Kydd and Jake Cheesman
A big congratulations to Year 7 student Lachlan Sanders, who will represent Australia in the International Futsal Cup in China this month.
Lachlan, who plays for West Victoria Futsal Academy as a goal keeper, was one of two Victorians selected in the U13 boys team and will travel to Jiangmen for the competition next week. He will compete in a five-day tournament as well as some friendly matches.
Lachlan's commitment and passion for futsal runs deep and he has enjoyed much success in his endeavours. Last September, he was selected to play in the National Schools Futsal Championships in Brisbane and his team won the U13s boys final. He was also selected to play in the National Clubs Futsal Championships in Sydney last January, with his team coming runners up in the U12s boys finals.
It was from these performances that Lachlan was selected for his latest futsal adventure! We wish Lachlan all the best and look forward to hearing all about it upon his return.
Looking ahead to next week, we're eagerly anticipating the Year 7 Retreat, where our focus will be on providing a meaningful and enriching experience for all participants. Families should have received correspondence from the College outlining details about this retreat. It promises to be a time of reflection, growth, and community building for our Year 7 cohort, and we are excited to embark on this journey together. Boys may wear casual clothes on their retreat day and should bring their morning tea and lunch. Retreat days are as follows:
Monday, 22 July: 7A and 7F
Tuesday, 23 July: 7C and 7H
Wednesday, 24 July: 7B and 7E
Thursday, 25 July: 7D and 7G
Friday, 26 July: 7I
A reminder that Individual and Homeroom photos will take place on Friday, 2 August. It's important that all students come dressed in their complete academic uniform on that day, regardless of any PE lessons scheduled. These photos are a wonderful opportunity to capture memories of the school year and contribute to our school's history. Your cooperation in ensuring all students are appropriately dressed is greatly appreciated to ensure a smooth and successful photo day for everyone involved.
