Careers Centre – Stop One

The Pathways team and the entire CSC community are excited to announce the opening of our brand-new careers centre, Stop One. The innovative space is designed to allow students to receive comprehensive career guidance and support in a collaborative and resource-filled setting. Stop One marks a significant step forward in our College’s commitment to preparing students for their future careers and study pathways.

Located centrally within the school, Stop One enables students at all year levels to explore potential career paths and develop essential skills for the workforce through one-on-one career counselling sessions and group workshops that may focus on resume writing, interview techniques and presentations from industry professionals or tertiary providers.

Students have expressed their excitement about the new space, with many already taking advantage of the resources and support available.

The establishment of Stop One highlights our College’s dedication to fostering a supportive and forward-thinking educational environment. As the College continues to expand its career support services, students are better positioned to achieve their goals and thrive in their future endeavours.

The Pathways team look forward to welcoming you to our new space. Students and families can book an appointment with one of our Careers Practitioners through our website www.craigieburnsccareers.com. Please let us know if you require an interpreter.

Discovery Day

On Tuesday July 30th, we held our annual careers expo known as Discovery Day. Discovery Day comprises three different year level events and a career expo from over 15 different learning areas. Year 8 and 9 students received time to explore stalls from different subject areas to choose electives that may link to their future educational pursuits. Students were also given a tailored presentation about the different electives and options available to them.

While this was going on for the Year 8 and Year 9 students, the Year 10 students were participating in one-on-one pathway interviews. These interviews allowed students and carers to meet and discuss VCE/VCE VM subject selection and develop a better understanding of their pathway options. Students were also given specific goals for VCE readiness, and some students will have applications reviewed and assessed before beginning their studies next year.

We support and encourage students to take charge of their future and find meaningful connections between school and their future endeavours.

“I had a fantastic experience at Discovery Day! The information was incredibly easy to find, and the teachers were both nice and welcoming. Everything was well-organised, and the helpful information provided made a big difference. The overall setup was really nice, and I appreciated how friendly everyone was across all areas. I would rate my experience 9/10.”

“Discovery Day was such an encouraging experience. It was really easy to go between different schools and subjects. The representatives were friendly and did a great job explaining their institutions and the courses they offer. I felt more comfortable going into Year 11 after attending. Overall, I would rate the experience my 9.5/10!”
