Message from the Principal Team
Dear members of the Craigieburn College Community,
This term has kicked off with a series of awards and community events. Students across the school have been acknowledged for their achievements and growth from last semester. Principals in each year level were on-hand to celebrate with their students and meet with parents and carers of award recipients. We congratulate all students on their well-deserved efforts in the first semester!
As students were being awarded, we asked them to reflect on their past achievements and start planning for their future. The College’s Discovery Day was a great way to begin this planning exercise. This year, Discovery Day began with learning areas displaying the different electives and options to our current Year 8 and Year 9 students. Later in the day, Year 10 students engaged with Pathway providers and received counselling on their subject selections. Making choices for the future can be an exciting and overwhelming experience for some, and our career counsellors are always available to provide help. There are articles about all these events included in this newsletter, with additional contact information as well.
We would also like to extend our appreciation to all those who have given up time to attend our parent forums and community events. This includes meeting to discuss the Victorian Department of Education’s ban on mobile phones in schools. Mobile phones and social media have given all of us great benefits, but in public schools they are banned throughout the school day. The current review of our policy will provide guidance on how to move forward to enact the ban in a positive way in our school in order to maximise learning.
As a school, we want to thank our community for their commitment and tireless work in making Craigieburn Secondary College a place where every student can rise to their highest potential.
Regards,
The Principal Team
