Future Problem-Solving - Creative Writing

Congratulations to our outstanding Future Problem Solving students Matisse and Ava (C8), on their success at the National Finals!

Competing against a larger and highly talented field of students from across Australia, our students achieved exceptional results. Matisse's team was awarded 1st place in the Scenario Writing Competition, while Matisse also earned an impressive 4th place nationally for her individual submission.

These achievements reflect the girls' creativity, critical thinking, and dedication, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school on the national stage.

Well done to Matisse, Ava, and the entire team on these remarkable accomplishments!

Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you have all enjoyed a relaxing spring holiday break. Below is some information about what is happening in the Unit this term.

Annual Field Exercise (AFX)

Our Annual Field Exercise (AFX) was a great success, providing cadets with the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities. Many of you stepped outside your comfort zone, and it was fantastic to see everyone embracing new challenges and giving their best effort. Our cadets took part in a number of adventure training activities such as canoeing, zip-lining, abseiling and a mud obstacle course as well as refining their field skills such as radio telecommunications, navigation, first aid and survival training.

Our annual promotions also took place during AFX. Congratulations to all cadets who were successfully promoted. A special congratulations goes to our newly appointed Senior Under Officer (SUO), William and, Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Marlon. For those unfamiliar with the Unit's rank structure, the SUO is the senior cadet and leader of the Unit, while the RSM serves as the second-in-command and is responsible for maintaining standards and discipline. We are looking forward to watching you all thrive in your new roles.

There is currently a significant amount of lost property in the Cadet Q Store. If you think you may be missing any items, please visit the Q Store at lunchtime on either Monday or Friday.

Term 4

Term 4 is not as busy as previous terms but there are a couple of key events to note this term:

  • 11 November - Remembrance Day Services at Manly Dam and ANZAC Village. Participation will be open to selected cadets from Years 9-12 holding rank appointments.
  • 7 December - PHSACU Pool Party. Cadets may wear their school uniform during the day and bring their swimmers for the event after school.

Resignation Procedure

Cadets wishing to resign from the Unit are reminded that they are required to collect a resignation form from Reception and have it signed by a parent or carer. The form must be returned to the Cadet Q Store, where all issued uniform items will be checked and accounted for, before being approved by the Officer Commanding. Cadets cannot be removed from the school system until this process has been completed. Any unreturned uniform items will incur a replacement charge, which will be added to the family's school account.

If you have any questions regarding cadets this term, please contact us at: cadets@tphs.nsw.edu.au.
