From the Principal

Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,

We are getting closer to finishing assessment and students are working hard to finish them to the best of their ability. Students will be feeling slightly anxious about their assessment and this is completely normal. We can help our children by normalising those feelings, listening to them but then supporting them to come to school and work diligently to complete them. Once completed, those feelings will drift away and we can then focus on the festivities for the end of year. We do have a lot of great experiences planned with Christmas Concert, Break Up Day, arts and craft, and time spent enjoying each other's company while working on less intense learning. 

Our PBL focus for this week is 'Be Responsible'. It is a great time to reinforce the importance of being responsible as we are busy working through assessment and also leading into the festivities of the end of the year, it can be easy to go a bit silly with their friends. Our PBL focus for next week will be 'Flush, Wash, Leave'. We have had a small increase of behaviour in the toilets which we are keen to put a stop to. This is only a small percentage of students but by going over the expectations and making it a focus for PBL lessons should help solve this problem. 

Congratulations to the 12 Year Five students who nominated themselves for a student leader position for 2026. They bravely spoke in front of students, staff and parents for the positions of School Captain, House Captain or Arts Leader. It was a very strong group of nominees and whoever is successful will do an excellent job. The successful applicants will b be announced at our Christmas Concert. 

PBL - Water Play

Next Thursday, 27th November will be our PBL reward of water play. This will be a great time to reward our students for their terrific behaviour all year. We are very proud of our students and are looking forward to seeing the smiles on their faces next Thursday. Please ensure you return the permission form and send students with their swimmers next Thursday. We will also supply the students with fruit and an ice block!
