Bayfit Water Safety Program

In previous years we have done the swimming program over a 2 week block, this year we changed it to once a week on a Friday. The change was made due to interruptions over a two week block to learning time. If you are a Prep to Year 4 parent can you please complete this Google Form and indicate your preference between the two.

Bayfit Water Safety Program

The Bayfit Swim Program being facilitated by Bayfit is guided by the Victorian Curriculum and The Victorian Water Safety Certificate (VWSC). The Victorian Water Safety Certificate is a survival benchmark mandated by the Victorian Government and embedded in the Victorian Health and Physical Education Curriculum, and it represents the minimum standard of water safety and survival skills every student needs to have by the end of Year 6.

Some of the skills include swimming 50 metres continuously, treading water, floating, safe entries, and basic safe rescues. The Williamstown Life Saving Club picks up the students' water safety education from Year 5 to Year 6 in a beach setting.

These lessons are not the same as ongoing weekly swimming lessons at a swim school that refine and focus on stroke technique.
