Murrumbeena Athletics Team break records and finish 3rd at Bentleigh Districts

On Thursday August 27 the Murrumbeena PS Athletics team competed at the Bentleigh District Athletics Carnival held at Duncan MacKinnon.

The Team had a tremendous day both on the track and in the field. Murrumbeena came an incredible third behind the powerhouse Oakleigh South team and St Peters.

The day saw six new all-time Duncan MacKinnon records broken but a staggering three of these were claimed by Murrumbeena athletes with Jess H breaking the girls 11-year-old 1500 metre record, Amelia B claiming the girls 9/10 year old 1500 metre record and Aurora F taking the girls 12/13 discus record.

Of particular note was the fact that Jess H has gone back-to-back by breaking last years 9/10year old 800 metre record along with this year’s 1500 metre triumph which beside her cross-country success this year has completed an amazing season for Jess.

Murrumbeena has thirteen athletes across 21 events who will go on to represent Bentleigh District at the upcoming Beachside Division Athletics Carnival again to be held at Duncan MacKinnon on Friday the 9th of October.
