Activities and Events

YEAR 6 EXCURSION

Students in Year 6 had an enjoyable excursion at the Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre on Monday 20th November and Tuesday 21st November. They spent the two day, fun filled excursion participating in a variety of games and activities!! They loved getting covered in mud on the mud run obstacle course, maintained their balance while kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, tried their hand at archery and thoroughly enjoyed the BMX pump track bike ride!!

What a wonderful opportunity to spend time together as the end of their primary school years is fast approaching. Thank you to the staff for your hard work organising the excursion as well as the teachers who accompanied the group for helping to create everlasting memories.

YEAR 6 TRANSITION

The Year 6 students attending Narrabri High School next year completed their first high school transition day on Wednesday 22nd November. They were accompanied by Mrs Nott to the High School for the afternoon where they learnt their way around the school as well as became familiar with the staff.  They attended a full day of transition last Wednesday and enjoyed getting to know their new classmates and the new routines for next year.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Last week we have had the pleasure of welcoming two students from Narrabri High School into our school to undertake work experience. Miss Kaitlyn Freeman and Miss Annabell McLean are in Year 10 and completing a one week placement in the classroom. They have enjoyed assisting in lessons and activities across all stage groups as well as with Mrs Capp in the library.

THE MAD FOOD SCIENCE

Recently Year 6 students had the opportunity to participate in a food education program called The Mad Food Science Incursion presented by Mrs Ebonnie Whan from The Root Cause.

The aim of this workshop is to use fun ways to get children to understand why it’s important to eat a rainbow of fresh fruit and vegetables every day. They learnt that the recommended daily intake of sugar for a child is 24g and that if sugar is listed in the first six ingredients on a packet to put it back! They enjoyed making and taste testing a green smoothie made out of bananas, strawberries, baby spinach and water.

FAIRY BREAD DAY

Founded in 2014, Fairy Bread Day is celebrated on 24th November each year. An irresistible slice of nostalgia, Fairy Bread Day is a celebration of Aussie culture. We joined the celebration last Friday and sold fairy bread from the Canteen!!  YUM!
