Junior School

In recent weeks, staff and students have been diligently working through various assessment tasks as we enter the Junior School’s assessment and reporting period. This time allows both staff and students to reflect on and celebrate the learning achievements of Semester 1. This semester, our Junior School reports will again be accessible online, with parents able to view their child’s report through SEQTA Engage.

Digital Safety and Wellbeing

On Wednesday 22 May, our College community was treated to an enlightening seminar, Raising Kids in a Digital World, featuring the engaging presenters Martin and Carley McGauran. The evening offered a wealth of valuable insights and practical advice to help parents and teachers ensure the online safety of our children. Junior School is proud to collaborate with Inform and Empower to educate our community on Digital Safety and Wellbeing. Parents and carers who registered for the event have already received an email with the seminar's resources. Those who were unable to attend can find further information, a recording of the presentation, and a useful toolkit on the College App. It’s definitely worth exploring. We extend our gratitude to all the parents and staff who dedicated their time to this crucial topic.

National Simultaneous Storytime

In Week 6, Junior School students enjoyed the delight of listening to a book during National Simultaneous Storytime. This annual campaign highlights an Australian children’s book to promote reading among young Australians. On Wednesday 24 May, our students participated in this event, enjoying the picture book Bowerbird Blues by award-winning illustrator, writer, and designer, Aura Parker. We extend our thanks and congratulations to our exceptional Resource Centre staff for organising this wonderful event for our students.

Buddy Chapel

The Buddy Chapel on Thursday 23 May was a joyous occasion. The excitement was unmistakable as students gathered with their buddies for the service. We are grateful to our dedicated Junior School staff who put in significant time and effort to plan and conduct this special event. It was a blessing to come together to celebrate God and our vibrant community spirit.

ROAR Awards

Congratulations to all our ROARsome students who received the Roar Award for the first half of Term 2.

Early Drop Off Reminder

We have noticed an increasing number of Junior School students being dropped off at school before the designated time. Parents are reminded that students should not be dropped off until 8.10 am when our Yard Duty staff begin supervision. Ensuring the safety of all students is our priority, and having children unsupervised before this time poses a significant risk. This policy is part of our commitment to maintaining and adhering to the Child Safe Standards. If you need to drop your children off earlier, please make arrangements for them to be booked into Before School Care at Oxley Kids. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this guideline to help keep our students safe.
