We are now using Compass to send out information about school events and for completion of parent consent forms. If you need support with how to access information on Compass, you are welcome to contact the school office and arrange a time to come in to meet with Sandra in the office for some assistance. Please let us know if you need an interpreter so we can book one.

Student Health

Winter is well and truly here and with it a range of colds and viruses. We know this is difficult for families, but we ask that you please keep your child home from school if they are unwell. Students are unsettled and usually don't feel able to participate in learning activities when they are not well. Please seek advice from your child's GP if they continue to experience symptoms. We have also seen high levels of staff illness over the past few weeks which impacts on student learning programs. Thank you for your support.

Student Support Group Meetings and Reports

It's not too late to make a time for an SSG meeting with your child's teacher for this term if you were unable to attend in week 5. Our teachers are now working on student mid year reports which you will receive at the end of this term. I always enjoy being part of the SSG meetings and we appreciate the strong partnerships between families and school, which we know lead to positive outcomes for our students, your children.

Disability Inclusion Profile Meetings

The Department of Education has a new funding and support system for students with additional needs. At Croydon SDS, we are in our third year of implementing this model.

All new students, Foundation students and students at year 6 age, have a review of their funding for the next few years of their schooling.

This process includes a Disability Inclusion Profile meeting which is attended by parents/ carers, classroom teacher, our Disability Inclusion Co-ordinator, Donna and a member of the school leadership team. These meetings take around 90 minutes and cover many aspects of each student's learning and the adjustments and support they need to successfully participate and achieve at school.

Students need to attend school for 10 weeks prior to the meeting taking place, so the school can consider and document the supports they need.

At the moment, we have just started our DIP meetings for our 2024 Foundation students. These meetings are a great opportunity for us to get to know student needs and for parents and carers to gain a greater understanding of the supports in place for your child at school.
