Week 2, Term 2

A new Pope and an Episcopal Ordination!

Last night, was a huge night for the Catholic Church locally and world wide.

Locally we celebrated the Episcopal Ordination and installation of the new Bishop for the Armidale Diocese.

The most Rev. Bishop Peter Mel Murphy was ordained and installed in a richly symbolic celebration, precided over by Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP and attended by co-consecrastors Bishop Michael Kennedy and Bishop Mark Edwards OMI.

Historically significant for our Diocese, as he takes on the mantle of the eleventh Bishop of Armidale, where he will shepherd, teach and lead the faithful of this Diocese.

Our four young people; Lexi, Ted, Lachlan and Hugo who attended with their parents,  staff; Mrs Nugent, Mrs Ahumada, Ms. Lockwood and Mrs Hayes are to be commended on the way they represented their peers, their school and of course themselves.

To add to the momentus local occasion, the world Catholic Church of 1.4 Billion people were overjoyed when a new Pope was elected.  Pope Leo XIV (Robert Francis Prevost) was born in Chicago, United States of America, spent much of his service in Peru before being called to the Vatican.

In our Mother's Day Mass today, Ted voiced the intercession for our new Bishop and Pope.

"For the new Bishop of our Diocese, Bishop Murray, may his leadership support us as You grant us the wisdom and courage to live out your teachings in the world, guided by the Holy Spirit. As we pray for the Pope, whom God will have chosen to be a shepherd of the people of God, receives an abundance of the Holy Spirit and confirms the faith and hope of us all."
