PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Friends

Welcome back to Term 2 to our entire school and wider community. It’s timely to revisit our vision, pillars and values:

Our vision

Frankston High School is a collaborative community where everyone is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. We inspire the pursuit of excellence, continuous improvement, and life-long learning, preparing our students to lead and succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Our School Pillars are the cornerstones to everything we do

Excellence: Striving for the Best,

Community: Strength through Connection and

Aspiration: Aiming High for the Future

We maintain high expectations for behaviour and uniform, guided by our School Values

Empathy, Resilience, Respect, and Responsibility. These values underpin everything we do and are central to the strong partnerships we share with our families.

I look forward to working with you as we embark on another term full of wonderful opportunities for our students to demonstrate growth in and out of the classroom.

Assessment and Reporting

Last year, Frankston High School transitioned to a continuous reporting model to support student learning by providing constructive, supportive, and timely feedback to students and parents/carers. Students have greater capacity to engage in their learning by applying the suggested strategies for further development throughout each semester. Please see the attached guide for further information about our assessment processes.

School Tours

We have run a number of school tours with prospective families this term. These have been extremely well attended and there continues to be enormous interest in our wonderful learning community. Thank you to our Junior Sub School team: Ms Samantha Cody, Ms Catherine Kyriakos, Ms Nat D’Ambra, Mrs Kath Judkins, Mrs Sharee Dew, and Mr John Simon for their efforts in organising these tours. Thank you also to the large number of staff involved in making these a success by running a tour group or organising resources, and making our visitors so welcome at Frankston High School.

ANZAC Day Recognition

It was fantastic to recognise ANZAC Day recently with ceremonies for our students in Sub Schools (Years 7&8, 9&10, 11&12) .We were also fortunate to have our Interact Team cooking breakfast on Friday after the Frankston RSL Dawn Service. . With the support of the FHS LEAD class, we proudly helped raise $1,950 for the Frankston RSL, an organisation dedicated to supporting our local veterans. It is such an important day to remember all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.

The assemblies were put together by our Year 9 LEAD class. Thank you to Mr Jon Christie for organising the assemblies, supported by Mrs Jess Bambridge, our Sub-School Teams, our IT Team, our PE Team, Mrs Kate Forsyth, Mr John Russell, and Mr Andrew McAdam.

Alumni

We recently welcomed back Renee Fox (Class of 2016) and Orry Lack (Class of 2005 – School Captain) to present to our Sports Coaching students. This session was fantastic with such positive feedback from those involved. Thank you to our Alumni Coordinator, Ms Rhiannon Slatter, on organizing the session, and to Ms Ros Swainston for warmly welcoming them into her class.  See the Alumni tab for further information.
