Curriculum Day

Our staff participated in professional learning focused on Responsive Teaching, facilitated by Bronwyn Ryrie Jones. This learning continued our whole-school commitment to the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 and strengthened our focus on evidence-informed teaching practices.

Responsive teaching was explored as an approach where teachers build in regular opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding, allowing learning to be monitored systematically throughout a lesson. This enables teachers to adjust instruction as needed to better support and extend learners.

Throughout the day, teachers explored practical strategies to strengthen explicit teaching, including how to identify what students know, and use formative assessment to determine the next steps in learning. A key focus was on adapting instruction during lessons using student feedback in real time.

This was a valuable opportunity for staff to engage in deep professional learning and dialogue about instructional practice. Staff worked collaboratively to reflect on current classroom practice, share successful approaches, and refine teaching techniques. This professional learning supports our ongoing commitment to high-quality explicit teaching and ensuring every student is appropriately challenged, supported, and engaged in their learning.

Semester 1 Reports

As we approach the end of Semester 1, teachers have finalised assessments and are completing the final preparations for student reports.

School reports provide an indication of student achievement against the Victorian Curriculum and offer a valuable snapshot of each child's learning and growth throughout the semester. Our teachers work hard to build strong relationships with families and to ensure that any concerns regarding student progress have already been communicated.

Reports will continue to provide important information about student achievement and progress. However, full descriptive comments may not be included for some classes due to industrial action undertaken by the Australian Education Union earlier this term.

Reports will be published via Compass on Monday 22 June. We encourage families to take the opportunity to celebrate their child's efforts, achievements and growth, and to contact their child's teacher if they have any questions about the report.

Wellbeing Week

This week across our school, we have been placing a strong focus on empathy, supporting students to understand and consider the feelings, perspectives, and experiences of others. Empathy is a key part of building a positive, safe, and inclusive school community. It helps students develop respectful relationships, resolve conflicts thoughtfully, and contribute to a culture where everyone feels valued and understood.

As a school, we will continue to reinforce these skills throughout the year, helping students to recognise how their actions impact others and how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
