Recurring notices

Yard duty Please ensure you always have the latest yard duty timetable visible in your classroom and that you are familiar with your duty expectations.

Yellow Vests and Bum BagsPlease wear your yellow vests and bum bags for PG duty. It is important that you are visible. If you do not have enough, please ask reception staff and they will give you additional vests.

Active supervision

Roam – move continuously through your allocated area

Build rapport with students- engage them with games

Anticipate behaviours before they escalate- read the Playground Support Document

Phones away, please –  full attention on students at all times

All students must be supervised by a staff member at all times. If a student from your class is taking a movement break and you would like another staff member who is already outside to supervise, please ensure you communicate with them directly.

ALWAYS Check with staff prior to letting a student in an area such as the playground

Seesaw

Please remember to upload photos of students completing all the wonderful activities in the class. The minimum requirement is one photo per student per week. This is important in helping families see the wonderful learning and care you provide each day. Regular updates offer reassurance and help build strong, trusting relationships between families and staff.

AAC Devices

Please ensure your classroom AAC device is charged each day. One member of the classroom staff must take the AAC device with them while on yard duty. We will provide gentle reminders to staff to retrieve it, if it is accidentally left in the classroom.

We will continue to help and model this during check-ins, class visits to support you and increase your confidence on using AAC.

Emails

Please ensure you read your emails before students arrive and after students leave at a minimum to ensure you are up to date.

Welcome to week 8!

A big thank you to everyone for your support and teamwork over the past week during a period of high staff absences.

I greatly appreciate the flexibility, professionalism, and willingness shown by staff in supporting different classrooms and adapting to changing circumstances. Your commitment to working together ensured that our students continued to receive the support they needed.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication and for the positive way you supported one another throughout the week.

Please ensure that mobile phones are not used while supervising students unless their use is directly related to supporting student needs or safety, such as contacting the emergency line or accessing approved student support resources.

If you need to take a personal phone call, please advise your classroom team and step out of the learning environment to do so, ensuring appropriate supervision of students is maintained at all times, for example asking your buddy classroom to help.

When therapists or student teachers are observing within classrooms, they must not be left unattended with students. Therapists and student teachers are present in an observational and consultative capacity and are not included in classroom staffing ratios.

Please ensure that normal staffing requirements and supervision ratios are maintained at all times, including during observations.
