Building and Improvement Projects.

Recent school up-grades and approaching building works.
Over the past 6 months we have been focusing on improving the look of the school and its high use areas. Specifically, areas that were not touched during the building upgrades of 2020. The primary aim of school council is to modernise and improve the look of our school. A number of these areas have not had an upgrade for a long time and were very tired.
During term 3 there will be a fair degree of disruption going around the school. We would ask all students and community members to remain safe and stay away from these works. Alternative pick up points and parking arrangements will need to be made for a few weeks whilst the works are being completed.
Improvements and scheduled works are listed below:
- Front Fence
The erecting of the new black front fence to give a more contemporary and modern look to the school. Hopefully, in time, we will get the second section of the front of the school fenced.
- Greening of front lawns and back hockey oval
Over the past few months, we have been focusing on improving irrigation and re-seeding the front lawns of the school and the hockey oval. As you can see the lawns are growing and the spaces are looking much better. This has involved the installation of a new 150,000litre tank, upgrades to the pump and sprinkler system and the re-seed and spraying of the spaces. Thanks to Buloke plumbing and Lachlan Jones for his work on this project. It is coming along nicely, and the spaces should be open for the start of term 3.
- New hard court area
The first day of term 3 building works will begin on the new multi court surface area where the existing netball and basketball courts area. This area is well overdue for an upgrade and severe crackling of the existing courts have made them unsafe for use (see photos below.
The new court area will be a multi court space similar to the undercover court with rotating netball/basketball goals. A black mesh fence will be erected around the playing area. (see example photo below).
The under cover shed court will also be getting retractable netting installed on all four sides.
These works will be done by Cross Creations and B&T resurfacing.
After the court areas are finished the area between the year 12 room and the new multi hard court will be landscaped to link the areas.
These works will begin at the start of term three and we are expecting the court areas to be functional by the end of the term. We ask that all students stay away from this area whilst works are being done.
- New Carpark
Early in term 3 works will also begin on the upgrade of the existing staff carpark around the oval. A new sealed, 25 car parking space will be built and the ring road around the school will be resealed. Again, both areas are well overdue for development, and we look forward to these areas being more functional and having a new fresh look.
It is estimated that the majority of these works will be completed in term 3.
- Carpet in of Room 8
To assist with acoustics and increase warmth, over the term holidays room 8(room next to canteen) will have new carpet installed. Hopefully, this helps create a better teaching space and a more pleasant environment for staff and students.
As you can see there is plenty of progress going on in relation to the development of the school grounds and facilities. Term three will be very busy and hopefully by the end of the term we will be over the majority of the disruption and will see significant improvements.
