Activities and Events

Welcome back for Term 3
Term 3 commenced yesterday for staff with teachers participating in a Professional Learning day held at school while the Education Assistants attended their session at St Joseph’s in Wee Waa.
Our students were excited to be back in the classroom and running around the playground today.
Term 3 is set to be an exciting and busy one, filled with great opportunities for learning and fun. This term we look forward to the ACS Athletics Carnival and Todd Woodbridge Cup being held in two weeks as well as the much loved Book Week later in the term!! With all this to look forward to and more, we’re ready for a fantastic Term 3!
Work Experience
Towards the end of last term, we welcomed back two former St Francis Xavier’s students, Aleira Sunderland and Charlie Tout, as they completed their high school work experience. Throughout the week, they supported classroom activities across all stages and assisted Mrs Capp in the Library. Both staff and students thoroughly enjoyed having them back and wish them all the best for the future!
NAIDOC Week
In the last week of Term 2 we celebrated NAIDOC Week!! A wonderful whole school assembly hosted by Miss Maddy, Mr Hynch and our Stage 3 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
The assembly highlighted a powerful milestone of NAIDOC Week: 50 years of honoring and
elevating Indigenous voices, culture and resilience. The theme for this year is "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," which celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead.
At assembly, Merit Awards were presented to one Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student in each year who;
- participates in activities that promote connection to culture and community,
- shows a consistent love of learning,
- displays a commitment to being safe, values, respects and cares for all members of the St Francis Xavier's community and
- demonstrates individual personal growth.
Congratulations to the award recipients - Lucia Kay, Ashton Thompson, Arlo Watene, Hunter Lubke-Wood, Estelle Stanford and Mya Keeler.
The Perpetual NAIDOC Award was presented to one Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student in Year 6 who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment and excellence across a range of activities including leadership, academic commitment as well as a positive attitude to school.
A huge congratulations to Eden Gordon who received this award!
We extend our thanks to the CLONTARF group from Narrabri High School for performing two traditional dances for our audience as well as to our special guests who joined us - Mrs Jolene Faint (Armidale Catholic Schools), Councillor Amanda Brown (Narrabri Shire), representatives from Whitehaven, Santos, CLONTARF, NDCAS and Summit and lastly to our respected community Elders.
School Band Performs
On Thursday 3rd July, our talented School Band was invited to perform at Narrabri High School’s MAD Night. They delighted the audience with a lively rendition of “I’m a Believer,” joined by Narrabri High School students on vocals and drums, and staff on guitar. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the chance to collaborate with the High School and showcase their musical talents!!
A huge thank you to Narrabri High School for the invitation and for hosting such a fantastic night of entertainment. Well done to all involved!
