ITALIAN

The Grade 3 students enjoyed playing their completed boardgames from Term 2.  All words were written in Italian and students used their knowledge of what they had learnt to translate the words to English.   They were very excited to move around the room and play each other's games.

The Grade 5/6 students enjoyed playing Memory with the 'Famiglia' topic.  Playing games give students a chance to focus on language and have lots of fun at the same time.

SPORT

This fortnight has been a mixture of football and netball - the ultimate combination to please everyone!

In the senior classes, we were lucky enough to have Emma visit for her 5th and final session.  It culminated in a full-court game, including rolling subs and everything!  It was wonderful to see how much the students had developed their skills and understanding of the game.

In junior FMS we have tweaked a lot of the core basic skills of netball and football by using the soft red balls to practice elements such as catching and handballing.  We have also been extending our resilience and sportsmanship through some competitive games such as 'Capture the Flag' and 'Run the Gauntlet'.  I'm so proud to see how far they have all come with their ability to go out and be happy for their peers' successes.

This fortnight will conclude with the 3-6 Waranga Athletics Sports on Friday in Kyabram.  It has been so wonderful to have Abby developing their relay baton-changes before school and at Lunch and Snack.  It makes me reflect on how our school looked five years ago when we weren't even able to field a relay team, let alone run trials!  Nowadays, our students are so fortunate to be given these opportunities.

ART

The last few weeks in Art we have been looking at different types of Media Art and using technology and in particular Photography. Students have been experimenting with elements of photography including, lighting, focus, angles, scale and perspective. We had lots of fun creating some cool forced perspective photographs!

DRAMA

One of the activities we've been doing in Drama is 'Imaginary Holiday Photos'. In this activity, students create statues based on the wild story that Ms Parry tells them about her imaginary holidays! Students discuss the characters and what they are feeling and how to demonstrate that using their body language and facial expressions. These photos are from students who created scenes from a story where characters went on a train, got kidnapped by a dragon and were deposited on top of a mountain!
