VCE-Vocational Major (VM) Pathway to Federation
From 2027 Federation will recognise the completion of the VCE–Vocational Major Certificate III, as a valid entry pathway into selected bachelor qualifications.
This initiative enables academically capable students from vocational backgrounds to access higher education equivalent to existing alternative pathways. VCE–Vocational Major applicants will continue to have access to Federation University through the Foundation Access Studies (FAST) program if they do not meet the Certificate III entry requirements. Students will still be required to meet course specific requirements where required such as Literacy and Numeracy Assessments, Folio, Auditions and or Supplementary forms.
As a regional institution, Federation is committed to increasing participation among first-in-family and regional students. Recognising VM supports this goal by providing a clear and inclusive transition into university study for students with applied learning strengths. With growing uptake of VCE–VM across Victoria, this pathway ensures a defined route to tertiary education and positions Federation as an accessible and supportive choice for students.
To ensure VM students transition successfully into university study, Federation continues to provide targeted academic support services.
