Celebrations of Learning and Community
Year 12 VCEVM Students Support Doreen CFA!
Our Year 12 VCEVM students recently organised and ran a Senior School BBQ to raise funds for the Doreen CFA as part of their Personal Development Skills Community Project. With the support of Mr Marshall, Mr Kapuranovski and Mrs Baccini, Emory, Kayne, Lachlan, Lucas and Jordan did an amazing job planning and running the event, raising an impressive $400 for the CFA.
Year Level Leader and CFA member Lucie Gallagher also invited the CFA crew along, with a fire truck making a special appearance at the event. It was fantastic to see our students giving back to the local community while supporting an organisation that does so much for others.
HGC proudly supports the Doreen CFA and thanks them for their ongoing commitment to our community!
Sports Report
It has been another busy fortnight for HGC Sport, with our basketball teams continuing to impress and plenty more opportunities still to come before the end of term.
Recent Results
Our students have continued to represent Hazel Glen College with pride, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination across another exciting round of interschool sport.
- 9/10 Boys Basketball – Division Champions and through to the NMR Championships after an outstanding team performance throughout the day.
- 9/10 Girls Basketball – Division Champions and through to the NMR Championships, continuing their excellent form with a well-deserved place at the next stage.
- Year 7 Girls Netball (NMR) – Our girls competed at the Northern Metropolitan Region Championships, taking on some of the strongest teams in the region. While their campaign came to an end, they represented the College with fantastic sportsmanship, effort and determination throughout the day.
Congratulations to all students who pulled on the HGC colours. Whether celebrating wins or facing tough competition, the way our students supported one another and represented the College continues to be something we're incredibly proud of.

A huge thank you to our student leaders who have gone above and beyond to support our sporting program.
- Year 8 ADA students – Thank you for assisting with the running of the Year 6 Interschool Sport program. Your organisation, enthusiasm and willingness to help made a real difference to the day.
Year 10 ADA students – Thank you for coaching our Year 7 Girls Netball team at the Regional Championships. Your leadership, encouragement and support were greatly appreciated by the players and staff alike.
Your contribution highlights the strong sporting culture and leadership that continues to grow at Hazel Glen College.
Year 9 City Experience
This term, Year 9 students have participated in a range of different events and excursions as part of their City Experience. These trips have included:

- Melbourne Museum
- IMAX
- Holocaust Museum
- Immigration Museum
- ACMI
- Queen Victoria Market
Students have continued to build confidence and resilience as they navigate the city. Students have been required to problem-solve and have learnt important life skills throughout. Each excursion has been provided to align with learning in the classroom at school.
We look forward to the remaining trips this term and the exciting Term 4 ahead.
