Principal's Message
As we move through Term 3, I continue to be incredibly proud of our students and staff. Every day I see students demonstrating resilience, kindness, curiosity and a genuine love of learning. Whether they are challenging themselves in the classroom, supporting their peers, performing, competing in sport or simply giving their best effort each day, they represent our school community with pride.
This month we received our 2026 NAPLAN results, and they provide valuable insight into our students' learning and the impact of the work taking place in our classrooms. While NAPLAN is only one measure of achievement, it helps us reflect on our progress, celebrate success and identify opportunities for continued growth.
I am incredibly excited to share some of our 2026 NAPLAN highlights.
Our Year 3 students achieved some exceptional results, including:
The highest mean scale scores in the past four years across every NAPLAN domain – Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy. Wow!
Significantly above similar schools for the proportion of students achieving in the Strong or Exceeding proficiency level across every NAPLAN domain.
26% of students achieving the Exceeding proficiency level in Reading.
81% of students achieving Strong or Exceeding in Numeracy.
An impressive 86% of students achieving Strong or Exceeding in Grammar and Punctuation.
Our Year 5 students also achieved outstanding results, including:
No students in the Needs Additional Support proficiency level in Reading, Writing, Spelling or Grammar and Punctuation. An incredible achievement!
86% of students achieving Strong or Exceeding in Writing, with our highest Writing mean scale score in the past four years.
77% of students achieving Strong or Exceeding in Reading, well above similar schools.
81% of students achieving Strong or Exceeding in Spelling – 18% higher than similar schools.
76% of students achieving Strong or Exceeding in Grammar and Punctuation – 18% higher than similar schools.
Outstanding growth, with 80% of students demonstrating High or Medium Growth in Spelling and 85% demonstrating High or Medium Growth in Grammar and Punctuation.
These results are a reflection of the commitment our students bring to their learning each day and the dedication of our staff to providing high-quality teaching. They also highlight the strength of the partnerships we have with our families, who play such an important role in supporting learning both at school and at home.
One of the key contributors to these improvements has been our continued investment in high-quality professional learning. Last week, we were privileged to host DOGI Orton-Gillingham Basic Training at Seaford Park Primary School, welcoming educators from across Victoria. I am incredibly proud to share that every classroom teacher at our school has now completed this intensive week-long training, along with every member of our Principal Team, Leadership Team, and all of our full-time Education Support Integration Aides. This significant investment reflects our unwavering commitment to evidence-based literacy instruction and ensuring every student benefits from consistent, high-quality teaching practices across the school. By continuing to invest in the professional growth of our staff, we are strengthening our ability to deliver exceptional learning opportunities for every student, now and into the future.
As we celebrate the achievements of our current students, we are also excitedly looking towards the future of Seaford Park Primary School. Prep enrolments for 2027 close on 31 July, and over the coming weeks we will be working through applications as we finalise our newest cohort of learners. We are thrilled to share that, following approval from the Department of Education and an overwhelming level of interest from local families, we will be welcoming two Prep classes in 2027.
The significant number of enrolment applications is a wonderful reflection of the confidence our community has in our school and the quality of education we provide. It is incredibly rewarding to see so many families choosing Seaford Park Primary School as the place where their child's educational journey will begin. A strong school is built on strong partnerships, and we are grateful to every family who places their trust in us. The continued growth of our school is a testament to the supportive, inclusive and connected community we have created together. We look forward to welcoming our newest families into the Seaford Park community and sharing in the excitement of this next chapter.
Finally, I wanted to let our school community know that I will be on leave from 7 September to 18 September. During this time, Mrs Melanie French will be stepping into the role of Acting Principal. I would like to sincerely thank Mel for taking on this responsibility and leading our school while I am away. I know that Seaford Park Primary School will be in very capable hands, and I appreciate her ongoing dedication and commitment to our students, staff and families.
