 Mother's Day

Reflection:

On Mother’s Day we stop and think about the people who love us in a very special way. For many of us, that is our mum. She might be the one who wakes us up in the morning, packs our lunch, listens to our stories, and comforts us when we are tired or upset. She might be the one who celebrates our wins, helps us when we struggle, and loves us no matter what kind of day we are having.

For some of us, our mum might not be here with us today, or we might be cared for by someone else who loves us deeply like a mum does. That might be grandma, an aunt, a dad, a foster carer, or another important person in our life. Today we give thanks for all those people, because Mother’s Day is really about love that is given freely and faithfully.

Imagine a small seed planted in the ground. At first, it looks tiny and not very important. But with care, water, sunshine, and time, it begins to grow into something strong and beautiful.

The people who care for us are like gardeners. They help us grow by teaching us, encouraging us, and loving us even when things are hard. Sometimes they cheer us on, sometimes they help us learn from mistakes, and sometimes they simply sit with us and listen.

Like the gardener, these special people in our lives help us grow. They shape who we are becoming through their patience, their encouragement, and their love. Sometimes we notice their love in big ways, but often it is in small everyday things, like making breakfast, helping us get ready for school, or simply being there when we need them.

On this Mother’s Day, we remember to say thank you, even if it is just quietly in our hearts. We also pause to remember that love is something we can give back. Every kind word, every helping hand, and every moment of care is a way we can honour the people who love us.

Prayer For Mother's

God of blessing,

God of life, We thank you for the gift of our mothers,

And all those who are like mothers to us.

We place them in your loving care

And trust that you will give them all that they need for life.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Risen Son.

Amen
