Dear Families,

Opening School Mass

All families are invited to celebrate the beginning of the school year on Friday 13 February at 9.15am. We will come together as a community in the “shed”. Please be aware that this is our sacred space so I ask that parents refrain from bringing coffee cups into the mass setting.

Learning Conversations - Week 4, Term 1

In Term 1, these conversations will take place in Week 4, from Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th February. The purpose of the Term 1 Learning Conversation is to learn more about the whole child. This is a valuable opportunity to meet your child’s classroom teacher and share insights into your child’s strengths, any concerns, social development, and other information that may support their learning as we begin this journey together.

Please click on this link and use the code frcdv to make your bookings.

Bookings will close on Friday 13 Feb @ 11.00am.

Shrove Tuesday

On Tuesday, 17th February, we will celebrate Shrove Tuesday, a special day in the Catholic tradition that marks the beginning of Lent.

Several parents will be coming in to cook pancakes for the school, and we would like to thank those who have generously volunteered their time.

A quick reminder: if you haven’t updated your child’s dietary requirements, please do so on PAM or contact our school nurses.

Ash Wednesday

As a school, we will come together to celebrate Ash Wednesday on Wednesday 18th Feb @ 9:15am. During this liturgy, students will receive a small cross of ashes on their forehead. These ashes remind us to think about our choices, to say sorry when needed, and to look for ways to grow into more loving and thoughtful people.

Repeat - School Nurse & Medical updates

St. Francis of the Fields are fortunate to have Tashi Baker and Chelsea Mazzarino as school nurses from Monday to Friday. Both will be supporting all students in administering medication, ensuring children with diabetes, asthma and anaphylaxis are well supported as well as catering for other major medical conditions.

I ask that all parents update their asthma and anaphylaxis safety plans on PAM so that we can adhere to each plan as required.

In addition, I ask that parents update their child’s epipen, if required.

St Francis Community Care 2026

A part of our school’s Community Care is to support families through difficult times by providing a meal, helping with ironing, shopping and making sure that occasions, that need acknowledgement, don’t go unnoticed.

If you know of someone who may need support throughout this year, please advise our School Counsellor, Mrs Maree O’Connor, or our office staff or either of us.

All information is strictly confidential.

Maree’s email address is - moconnor@sfstrathfieldsaye.catholic.edu.au

We are in the process of compiling a new list of helpers for 2026. In the past, we have had a great response from our families and have only needed to ask for assistance from them once per year. If supplying a meal, a foil tray will be sent home for filling and to be returned to the school office.

If you would like to assist in this area, please click on this link and submit the form as soon as possible.

Tuckshop Ordering

We are asking all families to please remind their children to bring their tuckshop bag on the days they are ordering from Tuckshop.

Every week, the tuckshop staff are having to write out over 120 paper bags because children have forgotten their bag. Reusable tuckshop bags are available to order from CDF Pay.
