Thompsons Road Upgrade

Important Traffic update for Nossal Families

Big Build Roads has advised of a major intersection closure that may affect your journey to and from work and school.

What is happening:

The Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road intersection will be closed from 7pm Monday 12 January to 5am Friday 13 February 2026 for upgrade works.

Big Build Roads will be:

Removing the existing roundabout
Installing traffic signal infrastructure
Upgrading drainage and relocating services
Building shared walking and cycling paths
Creating a temporary smaller roundabout for when the intersection reopens

How this affects you:

Local access remains via Thompsons Road, Wheelers Park Drive, Glasscocks Road, Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Honour Avenue, Laker and Fenway boulevards (allow an extra 10 minutes)
Those travelling from further away should follow signed detours and allow an additional 30 minutes
Temporary traffic lights will operate at Broad Oak Drive and Bushranger Boulevard
Some bus stops near the intersection are closed long-term - check PTV for updates
Works will continue 24/7 during the closure period
