From the Principal

Term 1 – Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 and our halfway mark for the term! We have had a busy five weeks, and we aren’t slowing down now. We have excursions to Teelba and Meandarra as well as visits from Shake and Stir, Queensland Parliament and Josh Arnold.

Swimming will continue until Week 10, weather permitting. Please remember your swimming gear, for P-2 it’s a Wednesday and 3-6 Thursday. An update will be sent if there are changes to these days.

Josh Arnold Visit

Thank you to everyone who has returned their Media Consent forms for Josh Arnold visit. The students are looking forward to his visit and collaborating with him on the new school song.

Annual Improvement Plan and P and C AGM

Our new Annual Improvement Plan is ready to be enacted; we will discuss our vision and goals for 2026 at our next P and C meeting on the 9th March at 2:45pm. This meeting is an AGM and will then be followed by a General Meeting.  I look forward to sharing the 2026 Moonie State School goals of 1) Reading priority to uplift our results 2) A shared philosophy from Kindy to Yer 6. 

If you have not put forward your applications for new and renewed membership could these, be ready prior to the meeting.

Cross Country Training

We have started our Cross-Country Training and this morning in parade we discussed where we could run collectively as a school. We will be running to DUBBO to visit the Zoo! VIRTUALLY of course. We will keep track of the kilometres we run each day and see what towns we can tick off. Goondiwindi is well within our sights, and I am sure it won’t take us long to get there.

Reader’s Cup

Students in year 5 have been invited to join the South West Regional Reader’s Cup for 2026. This will take place at the end of Term 2. We will join other schools online to answer questions about a set list of five books. This is why we need to get started now! These books have been selected and the list will be given to students to get their reading started at the beginning of next week.
