Green and Gold!

Dear parents, careers, and students,

The Olympic Games in Paris are upon us with the opening ceremony tomorrow.  To celebrate this time of excitement and pride we are having our Green and Gold day today.  Whilst greeting students off the bus this morning it was wonderful to see so many students in the spirit and wearing a variety of green and gold clothing.  One student in the lower juniors went a step further with face paint in these colors.  I am sure there will be many Olympic themed activities over the next two weeks. I have just had a visit from a lower junior class dressed in green and gold including bows and ribbons in their hair.

As you are probably aware there are significant benefits to people in our community to have first aid training.  Many of our staff are first aid trained and soon will be updating these qualifications.  Our school has taken this further and yesterday we had an incursion with St Johns Ambulance where two trainers visited our school and spent time with junior students across the school engaging in first aid practices.  From all accounts it was very successful and something we may include annually moving forward.  For some students it was about awareness and for others real skill development.

Exciting news on the school build,  one section of the concrete slab was poured this week and the workers are aiming for the second part of the slap in the next 10 days.  We are starting to get a feel for how the space will look.  In addition to this there is a play ground construction company installing a wood structure and watching it take shape is exciting.  During the break times I often see students looking through the window on the wall to see the progress.

It's parent survey time again and we would really like as many parents respond to the survey as possible.  Investing time to respond helps our school to reflect on our past 12 months and importantly parent feedback helps us to shape our focus moving forward.  On Monday all families will receive log in details.  The survey is open from Monday 29th July to Friday 30th August.  There is plenty of time and I encourage you all to find time to complete the survey.  I have included the information from the Department of Education below.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
