Respect On and Off the Field

A reminder to all students that representing Clayfield College Sport always comes with an expectation of respectful and appropriate behaviour at training, during competition and around our sporting venues.

Students are expected to treat coaches, officials, staff, opponents, friends and teammates with courtesy and respect. This includes listening to instructions, using appropriate language, supporting teammates positively, respecting decisions made by coaches and officials and contributing to an environment where everyone feels valued and able to enjoy their sport.

Sport provides an important opportunity to compete, connect and be part of a team. How we treat others matters just as much as how we perform. We appreciate the support of our students and families in continuing to uphold the standards and values expected when representing Clayfield College.

Important Reminder - Sport Event Sign-On Process

To support the safety, supervision and accurate record-keeping of students participating in Clayfield College sporting programs and events, families are reminded of the importance of completing the required event sign-on process through Parent Lounge.

This process applies across Senior School and Junior School Sport and ensures the Sports Department has accurate attendance records and access to the information required to support students while participating in College sport.

Event Sign-On and Attendance

When your child is participating in a sporting program or event, please ensure you:

  • Complete and accept the relevant event sign-on via Parent Lounge by the advertised closing date.
  • Notify the appropriate Sport Coordinator or Head of Sport and Activities by email as soon as possible if there are any changes to your child's attendance or transport arrangements.
  • Ensure students are signed out with the nominated supervising staff member before leaving an event with a parent or caregiver.

Students should not leave a venue without first being signed out, as this is essential to maintaining accurate attendance and supervision records.

Thank you to our families for your cooperation and continued support in helping us provide a safe, organised and positive sporting experience for all Clayfield College students.

The Final Stretch - Plenty Still to Play For

The business end of the Winter season has arrived, and there is a growing sense of anticipation across Clayfield College Sport. With just two rounds remaining in the QGSSSA Winter Fixtures and Club Basketball heading into finals, several Clayfield teams have positioned themselves for an exciting finish.

All eyes are on the QGSSSA Tennis Open team, which remains undefeated after seven rounds. With two matches still to play, the team has put together a remarkable campaign but there is important tennis still ahead. For now, the focus remains firmly on the next match as the season builds towards what promises to be a thrilling conclusion.

There is a similar story unfolding on the hockey field. Our Year 7 to 12 Senior Division Hockey team also remains undefeated, with just Moreton Bay College and Somerville House standing between the team and the end of the regular season. Two rounds. Two big contests. Plenty still to be decided.

The excitement continues in Club Basketball, where the U14 team sits at the top of the ladder heading into the semi-finals, while U16 Green enters the finals race in third position. Both teams are well placed as the competition shifts into knockout basketball, and every possession begins to matter that little bit more.

Across our Winter programs, there is still plenty of sport to be played. No predictions, no premature celebrations just an exciting couple of weeks ahead for Clayfield College Sport.

Busy on the Trails

Our Clayfield College Mountain Bike Team has been busy on the trails, combining regular training with two recent school competitions across Southeast Queensland.

Six Clayfield riders, Oliver Sproles, Lily Aland, Harry King, Flyn Mantsio, Daniel Gallagher and Archer Sproles lined up at the Sunshine Coast Schools Competition, taking on a field representing 82 schools across two days of racing. With three trails to complete and multiple opportunities to improve their times, riders worked together between runs, shared feedback and continued to find improvements across the technical courses.

More recently, Lily Aland, Daniel Gallagher and Archer Sproles competed at the Southeast Queensland Schools Competition. A chilly start quickly gave way to some tough racing, with loose trails and strong competition providing another challenge. Encouragingly, our riders continued to improve their times throughout the day.

These events have provided valuable opportunities for our riders to race, develop their technical skills and put their training into practice. Congratulations to all involved, and thank you to our families for continuing to support the team trackside.
